I was refering to this, not effects videos in general:

Ok, I'm sorry to pick and choose examples, and I am not trying to flame or anything, but lets compare Olin and Euphoria:Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:but in a more on-topic sort of way:
generally i think effects based videos are overrated, not that long ago i watched Euphoria for the first time, i thought all the effects and stuff was just distracting...
the story was good, and i thought if koop had just left it without the effects it would have been more enjoyable to me, and thats what really matters isn't it?
I mean, technical proficiency is all well and good, but if the content of the vid is crap and you don't enjoy it whats the point?
Spoiler wrote: The constant referrence to Ixchli in ayatos head is not only because she's a cool charachter.. but the role she plays through the series in ayatos charachter development and what I see in him as a case of schizophrenia (yes, I know that Ixchli is an enigma and is seen by other people, but is pretty much just Ayato's "imaginary friend" a creation that spawns from him because he is the olin and is there to guide him. just as she does in parts of the video, and calls out to his "train of thought" and in a sense she IS ayato.
to answer the "train of thought " reference is explained in the discussion on bakadeshi's opinion reply
Oh, I know dood, I'm not saying that there is no plot, and thank you for clearing that up. But 2 things though:DrngdKreationz wrote:Although in my reply to Bakadeshi's opinion (ill make it public after this post) there is a behind the scenes look to olin and an explanation about the visuals and why they were designed to be the way they were. but, to answer your question the main purpose of Olin (Note I say Purpose, not Plot, or story) was to create a visualization of what Ayato experiences and the type of shit he has to deal with..as the description states It's a "mind trip". The song Judith interpretation of the lyrics deal with the diferent aspects of his ego. it switches from him thinking to himself. and the "super Ego" condecending to him. although there are no specific spoilers in the anime im putting this in spoiler tags because if you havent seen Rahxephon yet. It can mess up the story a bit.
Ok, thanks for clearing that up ^_^.Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:true, i didn't say anything about Olin, because that wasn't what i was talking about, Olin is one of the best uses of AE on the site, this much is true, but i never said it had any story or anything to go with it, i just said i loved it, not why i loved it.
Sounds good, I'm sure others feel the same as you ^_^.Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote: And personally i consider DrngdKreationz > Koop, because koop had a fine idea, it would have been good, and then making a vid with that level of effects in it, which i consider to be pointless because it just distracted me.
So its kind of like a Picasso painting; you can pull any type of meaning from it you want. Hmmm...maybe I'm just not that creative ^_^.Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote: on a side note: Olin has a theme, but not really a story as such, as i see it, but i think Olin has so much in it that each person can take what they want from it and almost make their own theme for it, this comes as a direct result of using so many pieces of footage in each section, thus adding to what i think DrngdKreations theme was, and what you said: Mental Chaos and Confusion.
