Golly and I thought I was the only person who didn't know what the fuck was going on in Olin.

I was watching it and was like 'Wow, this seems cool' then all of a sudden it zooms out into a big 3-d environment with film playing everywhere and suddenly I say 'WTF! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY AMV!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. I recall Drrannged saying something about 'mental chaos' in the vid description so I guess it was meant to be there. :P

In unrelated notes, is there any threshold setting you can set so that your computer recognizes the difference between black and dark blue?

I don't understand why everyone thinks a video has to have a "plot". I mean I put plots into my drama videos but thats all! The majority of my videos have no plot whatsoever, for the simple matter that the VIDEO DOESNT WORK WITH A PLOT. I think the people that are always screaming that a video isn't good because it doesnt have a plot need to sit back and realize that music videos arent about plots. Music videos are about matching up music with video. If you happen to throw in a plot, then thats great. If you don't happen to throw in a plot, then thats great too.

I agree. Mood and synch are king. I'm very tired of shitty editors saying action videos are nothing but "random clips and explosions"

well, i would like to say that my vids have plot......but if they had a plot, then they would have taken me far longer to make =/

My latest vid has no REAL plot, but the mood i tried to set kind of creates its own plot.....I think the lack of sync(done on purpose) in my latest vid helps add to the mood of it as well.....but thats just me.

trip' on that. moods and synk are much more effective than plot. Mabye coz they require less thinking. besides where do you find music videos (real ones) these days that make any sense?? :)

Back onto flashy amvs.. the perfect example of a flashy amv (we're talking epileptic fits now) would be the kenshin mix that decoy made. If you havent seen it go super search and type decoy under member.
whats your opinion on that :?:
beside my creating this topic I really enjoyed it...

Meh, I don't mean so much "plot" as I do what Pyle says.

With action video, you KNOW whats goin on. Hopefully some good syncing and clear and smooth editing. With a comedy you KNOW whats going on; funny animation to funny lyrics/songs. But in the above example, you were presented with an AMV, then BAM!!, a 3D environment pops up and you get lost as to what the heck just happened. Thus is the case for many "effects" videos.

In short, you don't always need a PLOT, but at least try and have your audience follow the same path your trying to lay out with this AMV. It helps, a lot ^_^.

So you are saying you aren't bright enough to tell that its an effects video at that point?

Personally, I thought Olin had more of a plot than Euphoria... as I can actually see and somewhat understand what's going on in Olin... though I have no clue whats going on in Euphoria. But in either case, it still doesn't matter whats going on. A freaking duck could fly on screen and start shooting lasers from its ass, and its still a fine video in my book, if it was done well, and it fit in well enough.
