Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

thanks for the feedback everyone :P

as for the intro... yes it's a sensitive topic.. but i don't think i could've got my concept down the way i wanted to with out it. the video isnt supposed to be "awww it's a drama video". it's supposed to spark some kind of emotion... and if the concept is a sensitive one to the viewer... my job is done :P tho, i wish i could've found more audio from different events. the interent is a big place, but when you want to find a sepecific video or audio news report about an event in another country... ugh...

also, as i was telling some in the chatroom... the video isn't about 9/11, you could say... i use audio from it and other events to get the veiwer thinking. it's not just the US, not just Great Britin, not just Spain, not just China, not just Iraq, not just (insert nation here) who has tragedies on thier soil. but for some reason, only when they do happen do people realize what's going on elsewhere.

kinda lost what i was trying to say... ummm next topic...

bringing real-life events into amvs... why not? if you think of amvs as being an outlet for one's creativity/emotions/thoughts, then msot amvs are pretty much just that. not to mention, i would have to say most amvs that have a story to them would consitute as being a real life event, cause they are. most stories are real events that are told to people. i could tell a story how i went to the store yesterday and reserved a copy of HL2 and turn it into an amv... same could go for an editor who just went through a rough time with his girlfriend/boyfriend or lost a family member and wants to use those emotions and thoughts to make a drama video about the same topic.

thanks again for the comments, i appreciate em :)

The video may not be about 9/11, but the song was certainly influenced by that event. It's called Heaven Nine Eleven so the reference is there. Though, I'm sure Tesla had a more grander scope than just the catastrophe in the US - almost an historical footnote.

And the deal about using "real life" sound clips...well there are lots of bands that incorporate sound bites like that in there music already - Office of Strategic Influence has lots of clips using Dan Rather in White House conferences. Megadeth has even used a lot on their new album, The System Has Failed.

I personally think it is a very creative touch. But I'll talk more about that in my review.

DamnSkippyNice. Sweet rythm. Sad. Good.

I am also saddened that you didn't use one of my title suggestions for this :P (j/k)

It's something about the incorperation of anime using the real events though. It almost feels as thought it subliminally makes light of them, even if that was absolutely NOT your intention.

For example, if someone's affected by some event on a deep level, and draws a picture of it, that can be viewed as artistic expression regarding that subject. However, tying something completely non-real into the creation of that expression, like anime, just feels not quite right to me. I'm not trying to fault you for doing it, Pwolf, it's just something I personally wouldn't do.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

I'll need my self-esteem back sometime before Christmas, because this video stole it.

I see where your coming from, I saw it in the video, that's why I still gave it a five. Especially sense it overcame something I normally wouldn't like.

Also, I'd like to see you do AMV about ordering HL2, I did the same thing, though I haven't gotten a confirmation email, I hope I didn't give them the wrong email address. And that's all the off topic writing I'm going to do right now.
