I would have to actually sign up and start posting right now, wouldn't I... :p

Sorry you were so disappointed with the AMV contest Scott... To put up a -bit- of defense (I was one of the tech staff running the AMV contest), there was a scheduling snafu, and the con attendees expected the AMV to start half an hour before the staff schedule had it starting- so we were pretty much doomed to be half an hour late from the start. :p Also, I believe a much higher attendance was expected at the AMV than actually happened- we could have easily done without the third, smaller room, and possibly even fit everyone into one of the two large video rooms, which would have made life much easier. Either way, other than a few rather irate individuals, people were fairly understanding about the delay, which we definitely appreciated. The whole tickets thing was probably unnescessary in hindsight, but it I'm sure seemed like a good idea at the time.

The incident with the dueling Phantom videos was very definitely an accident, and one that we felt quite bad about. If we had realized that the two videos were going to be back-to-back we would have skipped Kevin's Phantom video entirely. As it was, we didn't know what all was on the 'filler' disk, and were too frazzled from getting things set up to realize that the first video in the actual contest was another Phantom video. I know I was just happy that we actually had sound and video in all three rooms. The girl who rushed out was the same who had the Phantom video- circumstances just sort of conspired against her that night, which is a pity because her videos were rather good. I think that the videos probably were shown in the order in which they were received, but that would be a Megazone question.

It's a pity that you weren't able to stay for your second video (the Gundam/DDR vid)- it was -very- well received. I'd probably say were it not for the 'Brothers of Liberty' vid it would have won its category (I believe it was in 'action', I don't have the ballots in front of me) based on the audience's reaction. It was one of the videos that most people I talked to wanted to get a copy of (myself included). All told, the vid. contest moved along much better once we stopped doing the introductions between vids (MZ handled this quite well, especially with everything else he had to worry about that weekend). And yes, we did eventually get around to shutting off the overlays on the VCR so that the 'video calibration' wasn't on every time we put a new tape in. As I understand it, making a compilation tape or putting everything on computer was decided against after the problems with the AMV at Anime Expo out in California.

I felt that the Masq. went fairly well. There were an inordinate number of 'walk-on' entries, but there were enough actual skits to make it worthwhile, at least in my opinion. There were a number of quite good costumes, both in the Masq. and people just attending in costume. Believe me, tech was quite frustrated at people not talking into mics as well.

*sweat drop*

Uh, no, somehow I doubt that... I was too busy trying to patch the A/V equipment together. I was the guy in all khaki with a pair of dog ears on my head that was constantly running back and forth between the rooms (I was doing the running, not the dog ears... :p)

There were plenty of hot girls there (especially on Sunday, but then I'm biased- that was when my wife came in with her Sailor Moon costume on...), and I'm sure a few of them were asian...

I was at that NYC expo. It was actually my first anime expo and I didn't even know it was going to be where I was staying. (Talk about luck) I wrote about it in length in my journal if you'd like to read about my experience. I took a few pics too, which I'll post on my website eventually (hopefully within the next week or two). @ http//www.goecities.com/Animal4890
