I've been trying to learn how to do the more advanced tricks in After Effects and I can't even think of how to do any of em.

Just play around with things and see how it comes out. Many effects, including piano keys, involve putting masked footage directly over other footage so that may be where you want to start.

see i dont knowhow to do a masked footage if i got Adobe Premiere would that be better for doing effects like that?

Or...start Vegas, click Help-Contents and Index, click the Index tab, find Compositing Video, read everything you see there.

You cannot learn effects it is all in your genes, its all A T G C and sometimes U.

Ok, i wrote a basic guide to vegas which you can get here . I also wrote a guide to 3D in vegas (using the 3dle plug-in) here . Eventualy im gona get down to doing an advanced editing and effects guide, fixing the html, and not being ashamed to put the links in my sig

. Till then, if you have any questions at all about vegas, your best option is to post a thread in the video help forums and wait for me or TaranT (I'd bet he knows more about vegas than me) to get here.
