Best protection against copying... dude your footage up. Do something crazy original with it. It becomes 10x harder for that person to do anything with footage already jacked up with FX. :P

Unless they don't care. I remember that one video that ripped off an entire section of "It's Tricky", seemingly almost unedited, not even attempting to hide the glaringly obvious "DANCE!" and "Bear isn't anime! How can this be?" and "BOGO NETWORK".

So it won't stop some people.

But I'd love to see a video that tried to rip off footage that had had song subtitles slapped on it. :D

One of my friends has some Eva vids he used with downloaded footage, but he has no intention of releasing them here. I still think it's wrong, but if he redoes them with his new laptop that actually HAS a DVD drive, then I think it'd be fine.

I used HK DVDs for a video of mine. They were a pain in the ass to edit with.

Hi everyone !

I think I understand supersayian313. It's busy to see your own work in other amvs. Well, it's ok for short pieces and with permission.

Yesterday I was very angry cause two of my amvs were stolen for another amv by djanime2002. He made his amv with only pieces of mines, with same effects at same time and without my permission. There were not one scene he made himself. :x

I found that hopeless and disgusting.

i know what you mean right now i got like 20 mb free on my computer cuz im converting my source footage. it would be nice to get it fast and free from other creators, but thats not cool.

all i could say about all this, you must be doing something right for people to sample your amvs.

theres nothing really wrong with using clips from other people AMV's, im unable to get whole video's to use so thats the only way im able make anything, heck, my sister has made alot of really good video's using clips from AMV's, but just as long as you dont use the special effects of it the person went through hell to make for theres then its alright.

Last time I checked "Parody" and "Comedy" fall under the "fair use" concept in U.S. Copyright law... that's the only thing I can think of which can apply to an AMV.

In botht those cases, you'll be ripping off a concept, but for example, the lyrics will be different. Or with video, you'll actually have created your own similar skit that is similar in nature to the real situation.

I don't think "A fart in the matrix" (theforce.net) is actually a legal parody, however "Troopers" definatly is. So you could animate yourself footage that smacked of eva, and do lyrics to a tune (their just 3 chords anyways, right?) with imaginative lyrics of YOU singing, and you'd be legal.

That's far and removed from what we're doing here. I think in the end, you just have to accept and live with what you're doing, since you obviously want to continue, and currently, there is NOT a better way of doing it.
