Last Unicorn
Anyone know if the 198?-something animated feature length movie 'The Last Unicorn" is considered to be anime? Not quite sure myself.. it does have the look of anime and about 90% of the credits are japanese? I made a amv out of it and don't know if this site would allow me to upload it.

Anyways, you might want to contact AbsoluteDestiny to see if it is indeed considered anime here.
Though I do have a faint memory of a debate a while back over whether the Last Unicorn was considered allowed footage or not.....I forget.

I think he was overreacting to the double post you made (last night you accidentally made 2 threads on this subject).

i know The Last Unicorn. i saw it when i was about 8.... it was released in 1982, America does the music. I love that "anime"... not sure what to call it... i read above that it is not considered... but Peter Chung is just as different now as Last Unicorn was in 1982 and he is considered anime.
I myself have a Vid lined up for it... Anime or not, this one does have something very deep and disturbing in it, no matter how dated it is, look at Fantastic Planet...
all for now!

To expound on why we don't consider it anime, The Last Unicorn was produced and directed by Rankin-Bass Studios and the screenplay was written by Peter Beagle. These are all non-japanese people.

I was wondering...since if you look at the credits, 90% of the staff and animators are all japanese names.

just my opinion, nothing more... so dont get all huffed up
Please expound to me what IS considered anime...... is there a percentage of Japanese that must be met in the production to be considered anime?
and I must EXPOUND that the word ANIME is a general term, Last Unicorn is not Japanese Anime, but it IS an anime (animated, animation... there are SSSSSOOO many words with the word anime as a PART of them... all leading to the same thing)
i love ALL anime, animations, animated cartoons, animated movies.. and the anime i love the most is Japanese Anime.
BUT there are wonderful, beautiful, creepy... bla bla bla... (all those things that the Japanese write so very well) animed stroies created by people of other nations of the world.
...They are VERY worthy of having videos made from them and they should be seen....
i find it rather sad of the outlook here, closing off animated art and beauty becasue of the nationality of the creators.
this place is called animemusicvideos.org right.... maybe it should be renamed japaneseanimemusicvideos.org.....
I love the forum and everything it brings, do not mistake this... i actually wonder the blasting i will get from this... and that is the worst part of all to me.
nothing more, just my little opinion for what it is worth
