Shy girl centered anime?

rei from evangelion, and lalaru from now and then ? I know they're not the center characters of thier anime but they fit the description. How abous lain? and Moto from te first epp of boogiepop phantom. Some other characters in boogiepop coud also be used.

Key the Metal Idol vaguely fits...although Key isn't so much shy as borderline catatonic.

That, and the show is very dark and fucked up

Yeah, she's pretty much a walking statue through the whole
series and I will never look at gel-o the same way ever
again. Just like EOE makes drinking tang or orange soda all
that more enjoyable.
