one time I saw an Inuyasha-Disturbed video that was done incredibley well, COMPLETELY the same video put to Adema's Immortal song...now that is horrid...
my friends have used clips from my AMVs cause they couldn't find them anywhere else
yeah wait till amv locks your video for that.

the idea
I have an awesome idea for an AMV. However, to be polite, I took the liberty of seeing if it had been used already. It has been used once. (the same song to the same anime)....
Before I continue- If I were to still make an AMV with the same anime and song, would that be terribly bad?
Moving onward, I took the liberty of watching this person's AMV. Although the AMV was alright, some scenes put to different parts of the lyrics seem so good that I seriously consider using those same scenes (from my own DVDs) in my AMV.
Would this be grossly wrong or impolite as well?

It becomes a question of ethics. I'm not sure about your case, but I'll illustrate mine. I was listening to the song "Comfort Eagle" by Cake and thought "Man, it would be cool to do a crossover between Lain and Cowboy Bebop with this song! There's the one ep of Cowboy Bebop with the digital religion, and then use Lain footage! It'll be great!" Except, there are two videos to "Comfort Eagle", one using just Cowboy Bebop, and one using just Lain. So, it becomes a problem. I don't wanna detract from their vids (which are pretty good, especially the Lain one). So, I set the idea aside and moved on....
Life's short.

Re: the idea
the way I see it you already had the idea and it was similar to someone else's right? Try to find a way to make it unique to you and if it has similar elements so what? If your using your own footage and your own idea balls to anyone who jumps on your case for thinking like someone else did.Radman wrote:I have an awesome idea for an AMV. I'd make it and make it my own.

Re: the idea
I did the same thing, i had a pretty good idea of what i wanted to do, and checked out if it was already there, and it was. Fortunatly the other idea sucked badly, so i had the perfect opportunity to do it right.Radman wrote:I have an awesome idea for an AMV. For those who don't know what i'm refering to, it's my Same Old Song video and Circ-A's I love ... Akira !!!. I hope everyone can agree with me that mine is a but better, atleast i hope everyone can. But as you can see, no problem in doing the same idea as someone else did, the only problem is when you do something that has been done 10 times before (linkin' park/DBZ), but i doubt your planning on doing that
