Well, what we're talking about is the free samples that are often offered by artists - I think these should be alright, particularly if they're full-quality samples. It's not any more wrong to use them than the stuff available on CD, I think, although if you're considerate to the artist, you'll surely buy the CD...

And then there's cases like mine: I used a track by King Crimson called "Happy Banana Tuna" in one of my videos which right now isn't available anywhere at all, and is not on any CD. But for a time, it was up for download on one of the band members' website; and I thought it was rather fair to use it. Especially since I wanted to be obscure to the max
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

post-it wrote::oops: now I'm totally confused on the MP3 & Downloaded issue
I believe the download issue refers to illegaly copied music or video footage. I know the music industry is going after illegal file sharing and now the movie industry is after people for the same thing. I have heard that there are anime's being traded over file sharing networks and those are not allowed here.
If you find an mp3 sample that you particularly like, by all means buy the cd, you may find other gems on it. I,m sure the artists won't mind you making an amv with their music. They might even like a copy if you do a good job. I know my friend Gary enjoyed the ones I made from his band "Express" cd.
Where did you say I'm going?.... And what am I doing in a handbasket?

Come and join us on the tiny but fun forum at http://www.allanime.org

Hi kitten 8-)

oldwrench
. naah, this issue of MP3's could make or break us - my old band and me.
therefor it would be kinda nice to use Downloads as Promo's.
- but I don't think anyone remembers us ~_~

Otohiko
. its in the rules of this site, and that's what's not clear to me! - hehe

The program itself it legal, but that doesn't make all the things you use it to do legal.

not all music must be purchased...or trailer amvs would not be in existance, nor would commercials.
i dont even think the anime has to be payed for, or video capture cards would be like banned
