that... was very very nice :)

I didn;t have any of the visual glitches like the others, so it must be in the decoding. the file itself is good, well aside from one problem.

Simplicity's audio is screwed up on my copy. On bsplayer, it totally hung the systema s soon as the video started playing, (right after the directed by screen cap) and on Microsoft Media player 10, it played the video, but the audio sounded scrampled, like a bad mp3 you'd download from kazaa. Aside from simplicity, everything else played perfectly, no glitches whatsoever.

Awesome job on the naratives and openeing segment. major Props to whoever voiced those naratives, sounds like you got a major in narating ;p Seriously sounded as profesional as any documentory you'd see on TV.

The lipsyncing seemed a bit simplistic for my taste... unatural feeling, but hell, considering the time you have to work on it, and for what it is I guess its fine ;p Serves its purpose just fine. I do like the eye blinking effect. good job on that.

Also... first time seeing A boy I knew.... that was just.... beutifull.... blended so perfectly... and edited just as well...

*cough* anyway,

I am phsyced, I want to see the widescreen sections now ;p

Oh yes, one more thing of note, I did have to juggle the volume control between the naratives and some of the video audio, more notably Ararat and Song's diva dance video. the video audio was a few notches higher than the naratives for them.

Aside from the minor issues, looking very nice.

[EDIT]

I ment to post what I used to play it:

Codec: Latest FFDShow beta codec, I think its August build? ffdshow decoded it, all postprocessing features disabled,

Player: BsPlayer 1.0 build 810, and Microsoft Media player 10.

Now excuse me while I watch this again

Argh! My secondary, new Seagate hard drive died yesterday! I now have over 100 gigs of data I can't reach. All my current music video projects are gone and same with all my games. Good news relating to this project is that I backed up my segment huffys and project files on a DVD so if I need to submit anything I still have it in great quality. Meaning I could submit a full 720x480 file for the DVD distro if necessary. Also on that hard drive was the fullscreen preview so I probably won't dwnld it again. I guess my current project "I'm Just a Digi Girl" is dead. If anyone knows how to fix a defective head on a hard drive for cheap please tell me (well I assume its a defective head by the clicking noise it makes).

If I'm not mistaken, I'm not the first member of this project to have hard drive failure :(

What sort of failure was it?

I strongly suggest you look around and see if there is a store with a 'Data Recovery Specialist' in your area. They can probably retrieve quite a bit of the data - though for a price...
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Try freezing the HD in your freezer for a few hours. yes you read that right, It actually works sometimes. Freeze it overnight or something then try hooking it up the next day and try to recover as much data as possible. You probably want to have a new HD hooked up formated and ready to receive the data ahead of time so you can get as much as you can while the bad one is still cold.

Ofcourse remember to put it in a ziplock bag to keep moisture out.

Not guaranteed to work, but worth a shot. sometimes it does, sometimes it don't. I'd say about 60% of bad HDs were successfull in our shop using this method.

{edit}
Otohiko - often times this is what those "Data recovery specialists" try first ;p

theres also software that tries to recover a curupt HD, but they cant do anything if the Hardware itself has failed to the point where it can't read the cylinders anymore. There are other pricier methods, but Going any deeper than these 2 methods would mean such a hefty price that its not worth it for the data you would loose.

I have heard about the freezer method, but I'm not sure how it would help a physical problem. Any tips on the ziplock bag, maybe tupperware (don't get mad get glad :D )? I just wonder if that could damage it further, especially if the moisture gets to it. I'm a little scared to try that, also if it will void my warranty, which I'm still figuring out if its under or not. The data isn't critical to me really, but a pain in the ass to loose.

I wouldn't worry about the moisture getting to your drive in a freezer. I would think with the temp the humidity in the air in there would be almost none (like cold winter days) but I am not sure how freezing it would help. Also if worst comes to worst (not under warrenty and your gonna throw it out) You could try brute force. Take the drive hold it sideways and tap the edge against a table hard but not like He-man. Sometimes the heads get stuck and that will dislodge it or if worst comes to worst you can take off the cover in the bath room (first get the shower all steamy so the moisture grabs all the dust in the air and pulls it to the floor then turn off the shower and wait a min then open) and you can try to move the head yourself. If it is that the format got damaged and the drive is still ok just search for ontrack software.

Ooshna! Did you know that you were supposed to submit a 288x288 picture of yourself in PNG or BMP format to rose4emily? (For our ending credits.) I don't know if he's still accepting them, as we're nearing completion... but if you don't submit a picture, he'll have to fill in with the generic "Serial Experiments Osaka" headshot. :P

The same goes for Songbird and Chris Nguyen. Just giving a last-minute heads-up!

Yeah I know. I couldn't find anything that I liked so I said screw it I'll be 'genaric man'. For all I care he can throw a spiky mohawk on it and it will look just like me.

Aparantly from reading online, freezing it shrinks the metal parts inside sometimes freeing up stuck heads or other moving parts. Just physics realy.

Heres a few websites that talk about using this method for more information, since your dubious about using it ;p

and this might also be of help:

{Edit} I'm not sure if this will void your waranty, so you might want to check on the validity of that before attempting any of these methods that may potentially damage it further. typically people who don't realy care about the HD anymore and just want to try any last ditch effort to get the data back are the ones that try these.

And any ziplock bag that will zip close should work. I should think a sealed container should work aswell.

Good news on my hard drive. Best Buy (where I got it from) says its under warranty and they can exchange it for a new one. I couldn't find any freezing a hard drive in the warranty, so I'll try the freeze method. Even if freezing is covered under some general user damage, I don't think it matters now and no one would know until they opened it up if there would be evidence to see anyways. I doubt it will work, but if it does I hope I can get at least 6 gigs of stuff off.

Even if I do get files off, couldn't they be corrupt if the platters got scratched? I want to try to get some 160 mb video files off and I'm worried that even if I get them, they won't work correctly anymore. Loosing a hard drive after only 3 months really sucks. Mainly what I need now is a good software and hardware backup method. I suppose I should of started a thread in the hardware help for this, but I didn't think to do that. Anyways, wish me luck on the freezing method!
