I meant AMVs there, not fansubs... -_-Garylisk wrote: Oh, and on the sbject of fansubs - I think they fit right into fair use laws. They are a good example of "Fair Use - Parody". It's the same law that lets Saturday Night Live get away with.......
The end of fansubs?

I've not bought Cowboy Bebop though it's been 4 years since I've seen it... twas' is my shame and my curse
No, but I buy most subs I liked, you know, if I consider them rewatchable (and it helps when their not on TV! Curse you Bebop!!) like Escaflowne, Chobits, Ai Yori Aoshi, even Robotech ;p.
PS though all those are shonen (girly if I'm translating right -_-) I'M NOT A GIRL!! Just sensitive

I am proud to say, the absoluteley ONLY way I found out about Princess 9 was through an AMV -_-.Kazutaka wrote:As for this situtation and its effects on AMV's I am just hoping that they will leave us alone because I have d/l'd many AMV's that have brought me to purchase new anime for my collection. Its a wonderful way (I think) to support your favorite(s) anime and increase its support/fan base.

Dubbed tapes - US licensed releases of the dubbed (english language) version of Digimon. You can buy them at most malls. You can *also* buy the dub on dvd online.Jasper-Isis wrote:There are dubbed tapes? Where? Are you talking about home-recordings of the broadcasts?Arigatomyna wrote:I know I'd kill for a subtitled Japanese version of Digimon, and the dubbers certainly aren't going to bother doing that when their audience is satisfied with dubbed tapes and free fansubs.
Except for the movie, I haven't been able to find Digimon on any type of R1 media. So please, do tell.
For Japanese the only way to get a copy of Digimon with subtitles is to download the fansubs online - and yes, they're still being distributed since the US companies refuse to subtitle and distribute the Japanese version (just like Yugioh).
You *can* get raws of Digimon in Japanese - official imports, but you won't get subtitles so if you don't speak Japanese, you're screwed.

Ok, I've only looked at the first two pages of this thread and I can already say that I buy lots and lots of anime, mainly because of fansubs. I want high quality versions of the animes I've watch from downloadable fansubs and to assume fansubs decrease sales seems so foolish. I also buy lots of anime because of AMVs as well. And as a AMV creator I want high quality footage, so buying the anime instead of using downloadable fansubs seems like the nicer choice. So thats one way AMVs promote sales. A lot of us creators are hungry for footage so we go out and buy DVDs.
