I like the Azumanga Daioh and Last Exile suggestions. There both high on my must buy list. Or you might want to look into picking up the manga to an anime you've already seen. Visit the various manga vs anime threads to see which ones of those are recommended.

That, or could just spend the money on 1/3 of Naruto.

You can't be serious, who in their right mind would spend (aus) $30 (usd) [I dunno about $20] on that 30 minute pos dvd, it could have been an entire series, they rushed it big time and its ending ...

You do realized that it isn't 'they', right? One guy did that, by himself, on a G3 PowerMac. He and his wife did the original voice acting, the so-called 'director's cut' version of the dialogue.

He's got a new OAV coming out on DVD in February here, looks just as fantastic.

I am quite serious. Every cent is worth the DVD.
I believe the length was absolutely fine. The ending was beautiful.

Berserk!

You can get the whole series for about $60 (that's the price I saw in a BestBuy store) now since Media Blasters have released it as one "brick" set (one box, 6 DVDs)...

Hmm... you've gotta admit that for one man (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makoto_Shinkai">Makoto Shinkai</a>) to make all of that (on his own... with the slight help of his wife) is quite impressive. Yeah...

Indeed I am. There was actually a theatrical screening of it here, but I missed out on it to see Howl... DVD release is 2/17, I may actually try <i>preordering</i> it :shockandawe:

Oh.. wow I didn't know about that.. for 1 person.. or 2 ppl inc his wife, that is a big feat in itself, I am quite impressed that its made by 1 person, this changes my perspective about the ova.
