How do you make this effect...[In Premiere Pro]

Post by FireCrossedAngel » Sun Jan 02, 2005 3:22 pm

I watched the Final Fantasy VIII--Noise music video by Anton Kleshchyov just now and wow...another one of those amazing effect-filled videos, and especially to my most favorite video game XD I'm definitely impressed...and a bit jealous lol [okay I lied VERY]

But there's one thing really bugging me...a few of the effects that I've seen in this video...I want to know if you can do them in Premiere Pro.

This is the effect: HERE

or...heres just a pic of it:
Image

yeah...its mainly that moving "cross-ish" type of thing...

I know how you would animate it (with keyframes) but how do you make that cross thing in the first place in premiere?

That may sound like a dumb question...but I'm unfortunately a very dumb person when it comes to this kinda stuff...lol.

Can you tell me some steps I would need to use? [and if its that Image Matt feature...how do I use it?]

It'd be a Garbage Matte, actually a couple of them. I'm not quite sure how he got the black outlines, though...

Make an image of a black bar against a white background, and set it as a track matte, and animate it.
Make another image, of just black the black outline, and animate it the exact same way.

If Premiere has a stroke effect you could try that too.

The image that you made the track matte... it is SOLID black and white, or does it contain that image? I don't really know why it would do that.
Pic of your timeline & relevent settings boxes?

yup...solid black and white I did that in Photoshop.

and yes everything--the picture, settings...its all right.

And if you wanna know, these are the settings for the track matte:

Matt: video 1
Composite...: matt luma
and its not reversed...

Does disabling the matte clip help? The matte itself shouldn't be showing normally...

mmm...what do you mean by that?

Though...when I set the matt to Video 2 (which is empty) you can see the black bar normally on the video...but you cant see through it. But i want the outside to be inverted and the inside of the bar to show how the video primarily looks like.

The clip you're using as the matte (which I assume you put in Video 1 given what you said your Image Matte keying settings were), right-click on it and de-select "Enable".
