i'll agree with scintilla on the whole " you shouldn't whine about something that a few people just sketched" so just stfu and wait and see what happens.

I don't have any idea about the casting, but I've heard from somewhere, and I can't remember as it's been a while and may have changed, as it was certainly just a rumor, but the pilots weren't going to be "kids" per se. Again just a rumor from a fairly unreliable source if I remember correctly, but I don't know if we'll be seeing teens as the pilots in this.

Having the pilots as adults - I'd find that rather disappointing, myself. I mean, that was one of the staple aspects of Evangelion, dealing with insecure and confused teens who are thrown into a traumatic situation. Having them as adults... well, it would be rather different. Which really leads me to believe they may be trying to emphasize the action aspect of it primarily. Even if the plot is good and the action is top-notch, taking out the cast of difficult teens would really make this very un-Evangelionish.

Okay, let's just face the facts people: If you are a fan of the original, then you will most likely be displeased with a copy/spin off/different verison.

Case in point: Evangelion. Those who have seen it and loved it will not be happy with this live-action film because it's not the thing they fell in love with. Even if it is decent, it will not be Evangelion thus fans will never be 100% happy.

So leave these people alone and let them work their movie magic (or at least get further then concept art) and stop beating a dead horse. Yeesh.

I don't understand why people do online petitions. It's not like it actually does anything, nobody sends it anywhere, and WETA won't care about 50 signatures. Personally, I think the movie looks really badass. Give it a chance instead of assuming the worst.

For once I entirely agree with you.

Contrary to what I might sound like, I am actually looking forward to this optimistically.

Even if all else fails, this could look very good visually. And I for one am not afraid to admit of being a sucker for action eye-candy

And don't get me wrong either, I'm completely looking forward to this as well. However, I'm going into with the assumption that I won't like it nearly as much as the series, and if it surprises me to be good, then all the better.

The concept art of Tokyo-3 is what really impresses me.
