I hope not, what would they be accomplishing with that? The complete un-Japanification of Eva?

Nope. They have only a slug script and a few concept drawings... it's probably cost them about ten bucks so far, and that was just for the pens and paperTrident wrote:They've probably already sunk too much cash into it to pull out now.
I disagree. The original series is flawed enough that there's plenty of room for improvement. Hell, I could write a trilogy of movie scripts myself that would put the anime to shame.bobbarker31 wrote:Honestly I do not see how they can do the series justice. More power to them if they are able to, but I just don't see it.
A nice but inaccurate sentiment. A bad movie brings shame to the entire franchise. Do you have any idea how much damage AvP did to the Alien franchise?bobbarker31 wrote:No matter what happens with a live action production they will never be able to take the greatness of the original animated series away.
Firstly, they already have a script. Secondly, Tiffany Grant went on record saying that most of the actors will be "of European descent" - i.e., white and most likely American. I consider this a prime example of "something real to complain about."Scintilla wrote: I'd tell them to come back when GAINAX, ADV, and Weta actually have, you know, a <i>script</i> and a <i>director</i> to work with, and then maybe they'll have something <i>real</i> to complain about.
Personally, I'm more worried about ADV's bad history of butchering Eva than I am with Hollywood's history of bad giant-robot movies.TaranT wrote:Whoever is planning this movie is going against bad history. Live action giant-robot battle-suit movies have been tried before.
With the producer of LXG and the writer of Catwoman and The Core, chances are it'll be utter shit. But hey, it's "true to G1," so it can't be all bad. [/sarcasm]Undertow wrote:Well, we still have that Live Action Transformers movie coming up, maybe that might be something (but i doubt it)
That will never ever ever ever happen. ADV isn't even considering who could play whom yet. The Hillary Duff thing was just the idle speculation of some mentally deficient magazine columnist and holds no ground in reality. This has been explained many times in the past.ifihadaninja wrote:But my hopes may be lost if they actually do get Hillary Duff to play Asuk.....er...."Kate Rose". Has this been confirmed? Because i know it was one of their choices.
Tiffany Grant said that ADV would be looking for 14- to 16-year-olds when the casting calls actually started.greenjinjo wrote:I don't have any idea about the casting, but I've heard from somewhere, and I can't remember as it's been a while and may have changed, as it was certainly just a rumor, but the pilots weren't going to be "kids" per se.
Being an old skewl Transformer fan, I thought Beast Wars and Armada weren't bad.Yukina_Raven wrote:Okay, let's just face the facts people: If you are a fan of the original, then you will most likely be displeased with a copy/spin off/different verison.
Uhh... that's my bad. I'm the one who started that rumor, and it was based on info given to me by a friend who later turned out to be a compulsive liar. So I sincerely apologize and recommend that you all scrub the notion of SF-3 from your memories.Otohiko wrote:Isn't it true that they're aiming for San-Francisco-3 though?
Shame on you, sir.generalhs wrote:I really dislike the show

That's all fine and dandy...but wouldn't a "logical" plot/writing/ending kind of ruin the twistedness that is Eva?dokool wrote:This is true. My point remains, however, that more American films have "logical" plots/writing/endings than Japanese films.
