Which version of Love Hina is better (Manga and anime)

Post by Malificus » Tue Jan 04, 2005 9:28 pm

By the way, before going on and on about how anime is better because it's animated, DON'T!!

Please keep your opinions pertaining strictly to the story line
AND PLEASE, NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ANIME'S LACK OF FAN SERVICE!

I am just curious as to what people think....

Mangafied, it doesnt leave anything out like the anime, and it has a LOT more Pantyshots, well, it doesnt have many because the Anime doesnt have Any in the first place.

My money's on the manga here. Not that I don't like the anime, but - the gratuitious ungraphical nudity aside, the manga also emphasises the more important aspects better. The anime seems to be taking everything more to the whimsical humor angle, but the manga is still just as funny if not funnier without the excess nonsense while following the main relationship far better.

Not to mention the anime's relative lack of a final and complete ending (and there'll be no such complaints of the manga, I'm sure).
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

what he said. My brains not really working right now, so i couldnt really think of how to say it. but, like otohiko was saying, the manga focuses more on the realation between Keitaro and the other girls, and the anime focuses mostly on humor, and less on story line, which gets it a B+

I'll play devil's Advocate and bring up at least one thing I like more about the anime..
They show Kaolla's "Big brother", and I had been wanting to see him ever since reading the manga.

My vote is for the manga, though I did like the anime quite a bit. Most of the reasons for this have already been mentioned by the others. I would like to add that Keitaro gets those cool glasses, like the ones Seta wears, alot earlier in the manga. I know that doesn't sound like alot, but I really like those glasses. 8-)

OK, so far, the Love Hina manga beats the anime.

So what is your oppinion on the side-by-side stories, such as the play about the monkey king, son goku.

I shall agree with the manga but for one subtle detail. I much prefer the animated Love Hina Again as opposed to the last couple of volumes of the manga. (IE the arc with Kanako).

Otherwise manga > anime.

Sadly I still have to see the anime, I keep meaning to but don't have time.

See I own a hobby/comic store that sells anime, and I read through the Love Hina series.. well in a few days. (Technically as my distributor ran out of 11 and 12 by the time I was there, and I had to wait about half a year to finish the series. But in total, if you ignore the wait period I read it in a few days. lol)

The manga was AMAZING! The art, the plot, even the writer's notes at the end of the books. I realy adored it! (I was honestly obsessed for awhile.)

I have heard from a good friend that the anime couldn't hold a candle to the manga, and when I have seen both with nearly every series it's typically the truth as the anime doesn't cover the same as the Manga. (although I could be wrong. 0.o I never have enough money to keep myself in enough manga and anime. Even as a retailer of it. 0.o)

Well I also thought the artstyle is way better in the manga as it is in the anime :P its just al little thing but everything else was already mentioned.

Of course this depends on personal taste.....
