I think the second part of the title is "Teacher" instead of "Sensei" simply because "sensei" can also mean something like "boss" or "master" and the writers wanted to make clear which one Mizuho was right from the start. (Also, those other titles might make this sound like a bondage hentai!)OmniStrata wrote:Ah boy. Why the show rocks and sucks, hmm... Well, I think it's different from the majority...
Romantic plot, big whoop, we've had enough anime like that, especially in harem anime, so? Why be #1? [for me, it's the best...]
Well, I've seen a LOT of anime. Not everyone out in existance but I read on some and watched a ton, I can honestly say, "forbidden loves" such as teacher on student hot action was never done to an extent such as this without hentai taking over. [oddly enough, I heard this could be based off an h-game and yet it's not a hentai anime thank God...] So originality concept hits me good, anime where student and teacher hit it off without it being a hentai? This one keeps.
Alien romances? Yeah, those exist, [beats Lum fans away with a stick] but in this anime, we don't have mad "must get in central main character's pants" type of romantic vibes coming from these female interests. The characters seem realistic. Aside from the little alien ingredient thrown in, I like the characters development and profiles.
I've got quite a ton of reasons why Please Teacher rawks [yes it sounds like a hentai title in English and honestly, it should be Onegai Sensei for your die-hard Japanese lovin' text0rs] but though I've seen lots of anime past itself, I still love Please Teacher's approach for a cliche'd romance with different characters/situations...
I didn't know what to expect when I first got this one. In the first episode, when Kei and Mizuho ended up splashing down in a bath filled with green water together, I thought at first that maybe they'd teleported to another planet, and this story was going to be about visiting other worlds and how their relationship developed as they struggled to get back to Earth, kind of an anime version of Sliders. I still wasn't disappointed to see the actual direction it went after that (although they never did explain just what that place with the floating bits of stripey turf really was).
As you say, it's nice to have a tale of romance between a teacher and a student turn out to be something other than a pervert story about a student earning "extra credit" with his teacher in the janitor's closet. (That setup, by the way, brings to mind a Bob Rivers song.) It's love, not screwing, that drives this funny story.
