It actually has a parody of excel Saga (ep 11)

But the real secret of FLCL and Abenobashi is that they are DEEP. Excel Saga is slightly deep nowhere near as much as those two.

Though it has never been confirmed by Gainax or Director Anno, the Evangelion units bare a striking resemblance to the barons of Hell.

Four Barons of Hell

The first Baron has one large eye--Eva Unit 00

The second Baron has a single horn upon its head--Eva Unit 01

The third Baron is blood red with four eyes and two jaws--Eva Unit 02

The fourth Baron is pitch black with exceedingly long arms --Eva Unit 03
If it can't be expressed in numbers or figures, it is an opinion - Robert Heinlein

i agree. Both FLCL and Abenobashi(especially that lest episode) are deep.

Excel Saga is just a little too much on the chaotic side to be that deep...especially that last episode.

It's isn't the last episode that I think is deepest, I think the deepest is when

Well this should be relatively obvious, but Sailor Moon (moreso the manga) is loosely based on Greek/Roman mythology. (Selene the moon goddess, Endymion the shepherd, Luna/Diana/Artemis are all goddesses of the moon etc).

Also the four lords, Kunzite, Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoicite are all forms of stones (convenient for the earthen lords). I have the actual geological information somewhere, but for now I'm too lazy.

Phobos and Deimos, Rei's crow are named after the moons of Mars.

Ok, I'll stop there. I'll get carried away and do a whole page devoted to these.

Not quite actually, the hearts in Mars, Mercury and Venus aside, Pluto's real sign is actually different.

Are you sure it isn't? Pluto does have two signs.

The sailor scouts are based REALLY well on thier planets, from thier powers, signs, personalities, even thier names' meanings...they reseached that stuff to death for them!

Ya that's true, but the one they chose is the more uncommon. It's usually dictated by the astrological version.
