Adult Swim new pick ups

Adult Swim now seems to have the rights to Samurai Champloo and Paranoia Agent. I love Paranoia Agent, but Kon's works seem like they might be a bit much for Adult Swim viewers.

This was news just giving out on the message boards there from people who actually work at cartoon newtork and adult swim.

I will be interested in how they are going to hack and slash (pardon the pun

) Samurai Champloo.... It is not something that will suffer editing easily. It has the same design team as Cowboy Bebop and it is suffering the inevitable comparisons. But from what I have seen of the first four episodes, it is a fantastic show in its own right!!

It did give me the same feeling when I saw the Cowboy Bebop for the first time!!!

Heck, even the font they used for the logo on the DVDs and box set just screams "COWBOY BEBOP"...

But it is NOT Cowboy Bebop... though I am sure that fans of the CB series will be happy with what they see...

This series will be sold to be just like Cowboy Bebop...it has the same design team (mostly), but so did Wolf's Rain...

Course I loved Wolf's Rain, but it was for different reasons than Cowboy Bebop.

well, they might not butcher Samurai Champloo THAT badly, they still surprised the LIVING HELL out of me with last saturdays episode of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex(Major fan, double meaning

), so if they show it REALLY late at night, they might not have to butcher it that badly, if at all.

I wonder how they're going to handle the beginning of episode 3.
i'm not going to write down what it is, because i'm not sure i can do it with minors around. I think that they're going to cut that out, along with a LOT more.

Do you know if they're going to have any of his movies?

Well, Perfect Blue is occassionally shown on the Action Channel. But there's no way in hell they'll show Millenium Actress or Tokyo Godfathers since they're subbed only.

I have to say, I'm really surprised that Adult Swim got Paranoia Agent. I hope that does well.

samurai champloo is similar to cowboy bebop, only in 19th century japan, and thats a good thing, because both cowboy bebop and samurai champloo rock! although, i still think cb is a lot better at the rocking.

also, mugen is very similar to spike, both in appearance and fighting style. he even acts like him at times.

as far as editing, they'll probably just remove the blood from all the fighting scenes, like they did with other animes, so it probably wont be too bad.

Remove the blood?

The only editing they'll do is toning down some blood and shorting the ending (just hoping they'll keep the opening sequences intact).
