Jinki:Extend

Post by Garylisk » Thu Jan 27, 2005 10:58 pm

Well, I admittedly nabbed the first episode because of the description on animenfo, which goes like this:
animenfo wrote:Aoba liked hobby kits. One day she was kidnapped and taken to Venezuela. There, mysterious life forms called Kodai Jinki appeared and attacked the inhabitants of Venezuela. In order to protect the citizens, the government made a new divison called Anhel and developed Mechas named Jinkis to fight against them. Soonly later Aoba became a Jinki pilot.

Three years had passed since then. ”Lost Life Phenomena”, which were big explosions that destroyed whole cities and were occurring all over the world. They were done by a syndicate, “Kyomu”, and Anhel had been investigating them. In Tokyo, there was a girl named Akao, who didn’t have memories before 3 years ago. She made up her mind to become a Jinki pilot to save Tokyo.

The stories of Aoba in Venezuela and Akao in Tokyo will gradually meet together. After severe fighting, what will be waiting for them, a brilliant future or despair?
I said to myself "OMFG WTF! Model kits and then Venezuela! How could this be good at all? But still, it may be a good laugh...

So I nabbed up the first episode...

In short, I was wrong. The show seems very serious toned and very very good so far. I like it, and look forward to more episodes. :)

You all should check it out if you have the means.

Jinki: Extend is indeed worth watching. For what has been called a low-budget show (the OP sequence is taken directly from the episodes, with no new animation, for starters) I think the character animation is quite smooth. Aoba-kun is cute as the dickens to boot.

I saw the first two episodes recently, and I'll probably keep watching as long the quality doesn't turn meh (I nearly questioned the whole cute girls and mechas premise). And yes, Aoba is definetely cute especially in the first episode when she got caught in a bunch of cables.

8-)

I used to build model kits myself so I was intrigued by the lead character being a female modeller.

I really like the show so far as well and Aoba is really cute and likeable. I hope this show does well.

Oh yeah, that was so cute ^_^

So, the opening sequence is just parts from episodes.. that's actually kinda cool, I think!

I saw the first episode and I liked what I saw. The second episode is residing on my hard drive right now, I will hopefully get a chance to watch it this weekend, or even tonight, god willing.

Just noticed something interesting in Anime News Network. It seems that the opening sequence is a homage to the opening of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Can any of you Gundam fans confirm it (since I never really saw the original Gundam)?

Ack... My group WAS doing it, then Clem (our translator) bailed on us.... our encode was damn good, too.... I don't trust the other group completely, and I hate to support them on a project that we were supposed to be doing.... ARG.

I have seen the first episode, though. It was deffinitely good, and I don't want to just drop it permenantly. Hopefully, it'll get licensed, and soon. I might try getting the episodes, but they seem a bit sizey.... ARG. Darnit darnit darnit....
