Coverting DVD to a AVI file

Ive got many DVDs that I would like to Rip and copy to an AVI file so I can make AMVs out of em.

My problem is I can't figure out how to get past the encoding that wont let me rip it from the DVD.

Help me!

You need a DVD ripper. Many people like this one:

There are many guides to DVD ripping and conversion and related processes at:
