Nah, I'm sure that even Julia had lived she would have died later. Spike and Julia weren't stupid, they knew that in order for them to truly live they had to escape the clutches of the syndicate for good, which means killing Vicious. They didn't say it exactly but in their conversation just before Julia dies they're talking about Julia leaving and she says she's not going anywhere. I believe that they were talking about assassinating Vicious too, not just Julia fleeing from the upcoming battle. And even if she were to leave that battle unscathed she definately would have died in the final confrontation. If you'll remember once they exited Annie's store onto the roof, there was a man there and Julia had to fire several shots before the man went down. Point in case, she has horrible aim. I love the girl, but man, she needed some target practice or something, it looked like it was her first time to fire her gun.
I don't know, part of me says that they'd go the non-violent route and just run - I mean, all they'd need is each other, and I'm sure that as ruthless as Vicious is, he may not be able to hunt them down. The other part of me says, ya, they'd go after Vicious, but I'd tend to go with the first guess because all Spike longs for is his love - no need to go on a vendetta trip when your girl's by your side - especially when you may never come back to her.

Idk about the gun part, we've never exactly seen Julia at the range, but you could be right. Bottom line is, though, I think that they'd have said screw the world, let Vicious does what he wants, we're going to Earth. I guess we'll never know...
On the seventh day, God rested...and watched anime. And it was good.

The Real Folk Blues Parts I and II are my favorite also. I  like a baby every time I watch it!

True but why would Spike and Julia just leave for no reason. What if Vicious decided to put a bounty on them both. Then he wouldn't have to get his hands dirty with all the searching. Then spike and Julia would constantly on the run. They knew it had to end there before it got any further and something tells me that if Julia had lived through the Annie's shop scene Spike wouldn't have died. He would have done something to keep Julia with Faye and Jet and then he would have went of and killed Vicious. Plus I think it was kind of a favor towards Annie; Payback to Vicious for what he did to her. But if Julia had lived Spike would have been driven to be with her and he wouldn't have died in the end. But sadly it worked best the way it did. But I don't think that Ballad compares at all with Real Folk Blues 1 and 2.

Even though the last two Ep are my favorites, it sucks that Vicious dies. there are some good things about the guy.(well, there were anyways.) :? he use to be spikes best friend. well, not any more, but Vicious is a cool guy. Hes been through alot of crap in his life as well as spike. Maybe more Vicious then Spike, close call. :? And heres another reason why you need to like Vicious a little: slimply because he is the bad guy. You can't have good without a little evil. Can you? :o I'll ancwer that for you, NO, you can't!
Now off the Vicious thing. In the last Ep, spike was being kind of stupid in a way by going by himself to get Vicious. Yes, he was in rage and in anger, but he should of thought it through and got the crew together and make a plan to kill Vicious and the syndkite. Vicious wasn't going anywhere, spike knew.

My gosh. If you're a true fan you would know that Spike never fights with the crew when it involves the syndicate. And spike did think it through, but in the end he knew he wanted to be with Julia and if that meant dying, then so be it.

I still think that Spike's death was truely unneccesary. I mean, the show had such a have-fun attitude with slapstick humor thrown in, up until the last 2 episodes. Spike was always the comic relief guy, too. I especially like the commonly AMVed part in CB when all the guys are getting out of the car and he's on the roof, kicking them and they get out. Pure gold. Anyway, Spike's death still riuned the attitude of the show (for me at least). Still one of the greatest animes ever.

Ballad all the way.

Post by GinnySeta » Mon Feb 07, 2005 7:17 pm

I just wanted to add that I adore Ballad of Fallen Angels...It is by far my favorite episode. I do love RFBs, but Ballad holds a special place in my heart. For one, it's the first episode that drew me into Cowboy Bebop hardcore. I liked it before, but after this ep I was hooked. For two..I ADORE Vicious, and this is where we first see him. I met my long term boyfriend when he was cosplaying Vicious and I was cosplaying Faye. He's a very dear character to me, and I think he's a very complex one. I wish we saw more of him. Three, Faye's opera attire. I made the jacket and shall, and bought a similar dress, just so I could cosplay it. Four, THE MUSIC. Green Bird and Rain are two of my all time favorite songs. And finally...the story dynamics of the episode were just so interesting. The flashes as Spike falls from the window...I love it.

RFB was also excellent, with excellent music. (I know I'm crazy, but I want Blue to be my wedding song) But Ballad is definitely my fav.

I would have to go with both too, it really cant be one or the other, because the fact is, they both seem so very well put together to make you have so much sympathy for Spike, him being a tragic hero and all, and how he didnt care about his own life, as long as he was able to take down the Syndicate and Vicious once and for all. Another reason I love both of them, are that in each one, it just bleeds extreme sadness! How cant you love them??? Ah, almost forgot to put this in but, in RFB, I'm pretty sure that Jet might've ended up helping him, if Spike would've allowed him to, but everyone knows that it was his problem only.
This life of mine is ending, my soul devouring me whole, but I wont give in to my destruction, my being of darkness
