  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.

Kenshin Unforgiven

Post by Tono_Fyr » Wed Feb 02, 2005 5:40 pm

The Video. I'll have a link in my sig sometime in the near future.

I spent about a month on this video, and I like what I did with it. It's a bit flashy, and some of the lyrical synchs don't make sense if you haven't seen the OVA. I put a lot of effort into this video, and I think it's the best I've done so far.

First off, I was a little disappointed that you cut down the song. I think you really could've carried the video on with it and had a nice ending as opposed to simply fading to black durring a fight scene. As for the rest of the video itself, it wasn't bad. You had a nice, clear theme and some good lyric matching and scene selection. The videos main flaw from a technical standpoint, however, would have to be the pacing. The Unforgiven is a fairly consistant song in terms of tempo, yet for the first minute or so of the video you're constantly shifting what you're synching to, and how you're synching to it. Also, I feel that there were many moments where crossfading as opposed to straight cutting would've added a nice, dramatic effect. Still, in the long run it's definitely not bad, and the work you did with the fights in the snow was pretty excellent. Keep it up dude.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Thanks for the sub-oppinion on it. It KILLED me to cut the song. But I felt like using anymore would have killed the overall asthetic of the video.

I see what you mean, I did skip around trying to decide exactly what to synch in that first minute. Personally, though, I thought it came out alright. I kind of just did the synch to what I felt was most prominent at that point in time. It kinda is the downfall, but I like it.

Seriously, though, sorry for cutting it short. I really didn't want to, but I hadn't put enough planning in what I was doing. I had an idea of what to do to keep it moving, but I decided that it would break up the dark ambeiance I had set up, using the Enishi fight. I had wanted to, but it just didn't end up like that.

Glad you like it to some extent, though. Means I'm doing SOMETHING right.

Love it, Tono. ^_^ Truly your best work. And I had no clue that you cut the song. XD

Now I just need to learn how you DID those things...(I'm in the middle of my first video)...Vegas is still rather foreign to me. lol.

Anyways...yeah. Good job, man ^_^

Kinda depressing and violent, so if you don't like blood, stay away.
Still, it's well done IMO, and I approve. :)

I really don't know what to say beyond "Thank you". It's awesome to hear something like this from someone you're a big fan of.

Thanks.
