Oops.

Aspect ratio: Widescreen is a common term for a number of aspect ratios. 240x480 is a common Aspect ratio(but is not considered widescreen), which means 240 pixels high and 480 pixels wide.[/quote]

Methinks you have that backwards.

And 480x240 is a common resolution? That's news to me.
(Unless I'm thinking of the term wrong, it's still not an aspect ratio; it's a resolution. An aspect ratio would be something like 2:1, of which 480x240 is one realization.)

Something along the lines of:

Aspect ratio refers to the ratio between the dimensions of the picture. Widescreen is a common term for a number of aspect ratios, including 16:9 and 2.35:1. In videos meant for playback on a computer monitor, the 16:9 aspect ratio is often realized at resolutions such as 640x352, 512x288, and 480x272.

It's a ratio, width to height. The #:# is the aspect ratio.

SQ, could I suggest Google-ing for the information? For example, a search for "video glossary" gives this one along with many others.

Or, if you happen to own Premiere Elements, appendix B of the manual has a glossary of terms. The Help menus for Vegas and Vegas Movie Studio also have nice glossaries.

About aspect ratio, you've always got width first. Fullscreen is 3:2, widescreen will give you a variety, 2.33:1 for example, and others.
The informal rule is to never go below 15 fps, but for AMVs, anything under 29.97 fps is usually unaccepted. (For conventions, projects, and contest entries).
I take exception to this. As I explained earlier, there are times when 23.98 is proper. There are times when 25 is proper. Saying that anything under 29.97 is unaccepted is misleading, and promotes incorrectness in dealing with it.

All I would say, instead of that quoted part, is this: "Generally speaking, the framerate should be the same as your source. Changing the framerate can cause un-attractive results."

It'd be cool if I could editmy posts.
Fullscreen is 4:3, not 3:2. Typos suck.
