i think
truly anime is coming into america at a very slow rate with little or no real scenes or words from the original but it still is for the best... like my little brother... he watches rk and yuyu and a few other more deadly shows (that have been remade in america) i think he doesnt reaaly need all the gore and death scenes... even though i love them...... take ninja scroll for example ..... i wont let my little brother watch them... but then again i love to make him mad!!!! anyway i think all the edits are for the little kids and about the rate of showing........ america sucks at that!!!! (i dont wanna piss ppl off)

Generally, I dislike those kinds of people. Am I just a high schooler? Yes, I'll be the first to admit it. I'm sick of nearly all the people in my high school. They run around acting like total idiots. From the goths to the preps, they're all the same. I'm sick of it.
Though it's kinda like how it is with gamming. There are a bunch of idiots in my school who, for some strange reason, like shity games like Halo 2 and Final Fantasy. I just call them idiots. If anime/manga ever trully reaches that point, it'll probably be a similar philosophy for when they read/watch shity series.
The Tokyopop thing was mostly sarcasm, by the way. Beyond needing better editors for things, they're not so bad. Most of my manga IS Tokyopop. Escaflowne, Dragon Knights, Psychic Academy, FLCL, Chobits, .hack//LOTT (I bought it before the whole "#1 selling" thing).
Eh. I'd say it's a mixed bag, depending on who you are, and what your prefrences are. I would like to see a few more romantic comedies hit the states and become a bit more popular (I'm kinda getting tired of depressing stuff).

I happen to like those games... If you want a flame war, all you had to do was ask..Tono_Fyr wrote:Though it's kinda like how it is with gamming. By the way, you happen to be lucky in my books because where I am, only someone who truly appreciates anime, and not just because it's cool, will even touch anime or manga. That makes it near impossible to corrupt people into appreciating manga and anime, but I am making progress. (Got someone curious in Porco Rosso and now they have to get it). But yeah, where I stand, my style of drwing is called pokemon or Dragonball or YuGiOh by all but a few (thank god for those who at least call it futuristic).
If you really like anime, in my opinion, you'll apreciate anybody who will watch anime/read manga, even if they just do it because it's popular. They're easier to corrupt.

Seriously, Tono_Fyr... Halo 2 is KING. DO you even play video games?
Oh, yes, and anime can get as popular as it wants. It's all the more for me to watch
As for Tono_Fyr... watch who you offend.

Be non-conformist! (Everyone's doing it!)
I guess Max Payne isn't much of a yaoi fan...

Halo 2 is a pile of shit. If you really want to continue this, bug me on aim at tono fyr or msn at deerslayerruney@msn.com or yahoo at tono_fyr. And, I'll have you know, I've been playing games since I was born.
I've watched anime since before the period where DBZ and Pokemon took over (I'm one of the few people who can say that, at my age). I always liked Robotech for the story and the characters, and that's the way I like my anime to be. I like it to have a structured and poignent story, with characters that I can relate to in one way or another. Or to at least be comedic in some way or another.
Oh, and, please, IM me all you want.

I really do appreciate anime becoming more popular, both the bad and good, And i hope Toshio Suzuki was wrong, thinking that the anime boom in the west has already crested.

Ok so premeire was pissing me off and for some reason i decided to read this entire thread...
I got into anime 5 or 6 years ago with some terrible quality Kenshin rm fansubs and have been hooked since. The more accesible it is, the better. Personally im glad to see anime becoming mainstream. I love being able to go to places like Barnes & Nobles and being able to read manga.
For the ppl complaining about how if it becomes mainstream quality will go down, the truth is that there already is crappy anime. Maybe the amount of crappy anime will increase, but the amount of good anime will increase just as much. If you are worried about stuff liek Pokemon taking over, ive got a very simple solution: DONT WATCH IT! There, problem solved.
Hearing random people talk about DBZ is a hell of a lot better than sitting in English class and listening to my fucking 50 year old english talk about how much she loves the OC and who shoudl be fucking who...

This is what I think:
Why would anyone care what anyone else is doing or what anyone else thinks of anime, if you like it then go be mad but you really shouldnt care very much
its not that big of a deal...i mean if little kids were watching these shows and immitating them by killng each other or something then that would be a problem but for now its all good
Solution: Take the kids books, smack them, and tell them to read better anime while proceeding to throw their manga in the trash
check and mate

No, the real solution is get them to do a latin chant, hitting themselves with the bad manga at intervals untilk thier head bleeds, If thier head does not begin to bleed, they must tunr the book so that the spine is facing them, and proceed to hit themselves harder and harder while chanting Pi es lesu Domine, Dona Eis Requiem. That will not only cure them of their liking of bad anime, but also get them (or you) addicted to Monty Python. No matter how you look at it, you win!MomochiZabuza wrote:Solution: Take the kids books, smack them, and tell them to read better anime while proceeding to throw their manga in the trash
