Has anyone seen Full Metal Panic?
I am really considering buying it as from what I have read and the trailers I have watched it seems quite good. I love InuYasha and DNAngel and Fruits Basket and Chrono Crusade, although DNAngel would have been better if it didn't have so many filler episodes. I like action, romance, comedy, and drama. So, do you think me buying it is a good idea?

FMP is in a lot of ways a standard mech action show. The twist on it is that a teenage soldier who is brilliant in all things millitary, but socially ackward is assigned undercover in a Japanese high school to protect a girl that has special powers yet unawaken. This guy who is so competent and self assured on the battlefield is socially inept in the high school and all kinds of comedic situations arise out of this.
The show balanced between the mech action (which was portrayed like a Tom Clancy movie/novel) and the personal interactions at the high school. I was not so much interested in the mech action (though I do like mech shows) as I was in the comedy and the interactions with the characters. The show was a hoot for me.
The sequel series is going to premeir soon in America via ADV. It supposedly does more of what Full Metal Panic does best: the comedy.
To be honest, it took me a few episodes to get into the rythem of the show. Not to say that the episodes were not enjoyable, but it is a bit of a different world with different rules and such. After I figured out how things worked, the show became even more enjoyable. Rewatching the earlier episodes, they seemed to fit perfectly.
