Bleach

I have not read or seen the anime so maybe I shouldn't be here, but I have a question. My anime fanatic friend loves the manga but can't figure out why it's called Bleach. Anybody else know?

i must say that i do enjoy Bleach, but now for a question worth asking..... who is your favorite character? i prefer Urahara myself.

not saying that inuhikarifan's question wasn't a good one, i'm kinda curious myself....
