First, I can understand Bardiel13's confusion about Gendo's hands. You really only see them one time ungloved until the very end -- in Episode 5 when they examine the Fourth Angel's core. Also, iirc, they don't show his ungloved hands after Ep 5 in the Original Version of the show, only in the Director's Cut episodes and a brief scene in Death & Rebirth of Gendo walking from the hospital (which was a new scene not seen in the TV series, I think).Bardiel13 wrote:But the people who wrote this were under the impression that Asuka died. That's false information... uh, kinda since it's a ficitonal TV show . And Gendo's hands are normal as far as I've seen. Remember, when be bruned his hands? Those hands looked pretty normal to me.
Second, Bardiel13 probably did not see End of Evangelion. End of Evangelion is an alternate ending, but the one that article writer Talesin Jaffe had worked with, so that's the one he would use in his article.
End of Evangelion hasn't been seen by everyone whose seen the TV series, mostly for the following reasons:
- It is for Mature Audiences (it features nudity, extreme violence, religious themes, and disturbing images, so it is certainly an NC-17 equivalent rating)
- Most people like the Original Ending, and do not want to see another.
- Most people like the Director's Cut Ending, and do not want to see another.
(In hindsight, Jaffe should have presented all the endings, and not stuck with the End of Evangelion ending alone.)
