AMV DVDs - How many people do this?

Post by Garylisk » Tue Feb 22, 2005 5:26 pm

I recently went looking for an older AMV I had seen a while back. I got in touch with the editor, and he sent me, via mail, a DVD with all his AMVs on it. But not just a DVD with all the distro vids on it.. It was actually a DVD that you could play in a DVD player, complete with menus and everything.

I am just curious if there's any other editors out there that have these things available, and how to get ahold of them...

and I was also curious about what programs you reccomend for authoring menus and such for a DVD like this, since I am thinking of doing something like this at some point.
Alcohol, Drugs, Overdrive, Noise, Neon Lights, Party People, Revolution

Many higher-end movie editors have DVD writing included. (I have Adobe Premiere Elements, and that has a DVD menu authoring tool built in.)

For my own personal viewing (and so that I can see it with 5.1 audio on the entertainment center), I burn AMVs on DVD+R discs using Sonic MyDVD.

So, you really can use either of these if you want to burn a personal DVD for your own viewing.

SnHKnive's made one for our studio which at the time was Destination Skyline. We handed out between 25-50 copies at AWA if I remember correctly. I believe he used Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Encore to author the dvds.

A few other editors did this at AWA as well, including MeriC, VegettoEX, and Studio Gaijin.

I write DVD videos for my university's Anime Society (SUMASoc), though as I lack any quality software for such things I have to use (shock horror) Roxio DVD Builder.

Still, it works, and the results are certainly good enough to be shown to large groups of people (though it can be a bugger getting the sound-levels and video-sizes right, particularly when taking into consideration unadjustable volume in the lecture theatre we use, and a projector that tends to cut off the bottom and right edges of the screen...

I need to get back with him on that, I thought I was getting one :(

I've made several beta dvd's of my master copies (mostly just so I can watch them on the tv) I do have plans on make a dvd of a collection of what videos I have dvd master copies for. I gotta learn how to master the art of making a dvd better before I do though.

I've been wanting to do one for awhile, but I'm too lazy to do all that authoring crap.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

I made dvds of the NES and RVG Projects. The NES dvd was made in Ulead DVD workshop and I used adobe premiere and encore to do the RVG dvd.

I'll probably never release a dvd of my own stuff. :P
