  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

My first AMV!

Post by Sergeant_Sagara » Thu Feb 24, 2005 2:18 pm

Well this is my first AMV I named it "The fighting Spirit". I just used clips from Gungrave, Bakuretsu Tenshi, and Naruto. I hope you guys enjoy it.

It would be really great if you guys could give me pointers, because this is my first time making an AMV.

Thanks a lot and enjoy!

You can still edit the name in the menu "edit my videos".
The AMV has some quite good action-timings, but you should try to crop the subs out and to encode a better way.
I enjoyed the music, the Naruto Soundtrack is just great.

What software did you use?
Try encoding with virtual dub.

Oh, I was thinking of using VDub, but I didn't know if that would make it look bad, because I'm taking off the bottom....plus I don't know how to get rid of that Dvix logo either.

I used Movie Maker, I know it's not very good, but I've never really made an anime music video before, so I never really though to get a better program.

Thanks for informing me about editing my title.

And Naruto music does rock!

Thanks for the comment.

In the case it looks bad, if you only crop the bottom you could try cropping the top, too.

Encode with XviD.
The same or even better quality than divx and its totally free therefore no logo.

You could also do 2pass in virtual dub by first chosing two pass - first pass (not single pass) in the xvid menu (be sure to also change profilelevel to unrestricted and to set the motion search and VHQ mode in the advanced menu to the highest levels you could also activate global motion compensation if you find it but don't use the cartoon mode) then go on file->save as avi, type in a filename and check the box "Don't run this job now...bla". Then go into the xvid menu choose 2nd pass and the kbit bar to around 900 and then again on "save as" and "dont run this job now.." but it has to be the same filename.
After that you run file -> "job control" click on start and wait. That's it.

This was maybe too fast for ya, sry.
But, well, good luck.
