Okay, people really need to just live with it. Naruto is going to be aired Toonami. If you really don't like it, then DON'T WATCH IT!! They reaon that Naruto is even being shown on CN is because it'll get more viewers and more people will buy the merchandise.
All of those people who are uspet about Naruto becoming even more mainstream really need to think about this: Even if Naruto becomes hellishly popular in the US, if you're against the idea of making it 'mainstream', then stay out of it! Don't deny those who are unable to buy the DVD's or download fansubs the opportunity to watch this wonderful series.
Also, it's kinda strange how people automatically assume that an anime's dubbing is going to suck just because it's not in English. Although I understand that the dubbing can be pretty bad, there's also the chance that it can be good. ShoPro understands how popular Naruto is, so they're probably going to try harder than they usually do to find the perfect voices for the characters.
I know that I'm going to watch the Toonami dub, just because I'm curious on how they'll sound. It'll also be like a sample for when I buy the DVD's. I just hope it won't be like FUNimation's dubs. They take so much liberty into the scripts that I can't stand listening to the dubs, even if the voices are good...

Yikes looking at Zephyrias' post made me think (amazing, isn't it?), do we just hate the idea of anime being accesable to non-otaku? That it would ruin a great anime if it were made watchable for those who either can't afford DVDs or hate subtitles? Is it really that bad if peolpe can have the choice to watch Naruto or other good anime on a channel that doesn't cost extra?

Not we, but I strongly suspect that's the case with the skeptics in this thread. In fact I'd like to know whether there's any other logical reason to this animosity, which I haven't detected thus far...got2maskit wrote:do we just hate the idea of anime being accesable to non-otaku? ?
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Yea, right, you have a ninja anime, and you change the names from cool-sounding incomprehensible handles to a bunch of western names? Hah. Even a 6-year-old won't fall for that.

changing names is one of the biggest wastes of energy conceiveable
doesn't Sakura mean cherry blossom?
so if they change Sakura to something like... Sarah.. it's honestly kinda dull
if they translate it to... Cherry Blossom.. then it's awkward
leaving it as Sakura (like kishimoto intended) would be the smartest and easiest thing to do, plus names have meanings a lot of times, so that's another plus
ex: Rock Lee (obvious reference to the great master)
<-- will watch tv release when i get time due to interest in the quality of their job, i don't really need to follow it cause i'm up to date on the manga and scanlations so every now and then should be fine
i just hope that if i dont' watch it for a month, hopefully they'll have moved on a few eps

I've got a very bad feeling though. I've first heard it's gonna be handled by Sho Pro and Viz, then later from one of my friends in my linkshell on Final Fantasy XI, I heard Naruto was picked up by 4kids. Now I ain't sure who has the license, but in an example, I just watched the first episode of Tokyo Mew Mew on Foxbox, and seeing how they handled the dub, just thinking of one of the greatest animes ever created to fall in the hands of those assholes, I just have a cold chill running down my spine every time I think about it. To be honest, I would rather see Sho-pro and Viz have the license rather than 4kids. If 4kids gets the license, the killing intentions directed at 4kids will double.....no, quadruple! I mean, those idiots ruined One Piece, and recently they've ruined Tokyo Mew Mew, I just hope Naruto does not become another casualty, know what I mean?
