One of the coolest movies I have ever seen. The first time I saw it, it blew me away. I watched it 5 times that night. The next day I got it and watched it some more.

I didn't rock my world that much. I mean I liked it, but I took it for what it was: a series of viginettes showcasing some great talent. Most I liked...and some I did not care as much for.

Sorry, I am not much of a sampler guy. Give me the full serving of the stuff I like. :P

Most of the movie was a major let-down for me. Especially SR, which, the more I look at it, is perhaps one of the shoddiest background stories I've ever seen.

As anthology movies go, better off saving up a little bit more and getting 'Memories'

If you are interested in the AniMatrix, but never seen it before, here's a few factoids for you:

- Before seeing The Matrix Reloaded, you do have to see these episodes for some backstory:

The Final Flight of the Osiris
This mission is mentioned by the commander in the war briefing in Zion.

Kid's Story
This is where Charlie Popper (the kid who thanks Neo for saving him) came from (and features the same actor voicing the role for continuity).

- The Final Flight of the Osiris[/i] is one of the only two Square Pictures productions there probably ever will be (since the studio shut down production after making it), and is perhaps the best short of the collection IMHO. :)

- [url=http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclo ... hp?id=1717]Detective Story
is a great noir detective side-story, and is perfect for anyone who is a Sinchiro Watanabe fan.

- Second Renaissance is also important as a backstory to how everything in The Matrix movies is the way it is.

So, is it worth the purchase for only four of nine "required" animated shorts? It could be, if you liked The Matrix and wanted more backstory about it.

But, if you are still unsure, you can go to the Official Warner Bros. Matrix site at http://www.thematrix.com and click on the Mainframe button. Once it loads up, at the left, you should see a scrollbar with the AniMatrix movies listed.

Both parts of Second Renaissance, Program, and Detective Story can all be watched online for free. :)

Animatrix was better than I thought it would be. I didn't think that 10 minute stories would hold my interest or establish very good story lines.

I found most of the segments rather interesting.

I didn't really care for the last one though. It may be because I'm not a Peter Chung fan.

It's one of those shows that I thought was just okay for watching but great for AMV-making.
