Well, the flashbacks were more then likely simply there to slow the anime down. It was moving through volumes like crazy when the arc started. That combined with the manga's short recess got it awefully far up there. I know that the flashbacks, especially with Kiba and Akamaru, were pretty darn long in the previous episodes. But they seem to be done taking that approach now that everything is back on track. I'm not so sure i would say Naruto was full of flashbacks. Up untill the last few eps there have only been a minute here and there through out the series. Also if you have watched the most recent episodes you would see that the flashbacks were back to as they should be; short, sweet, and to the point.

I think the flashbacks make it easyer seeable when you miss a few episodes (wich could easily happen if it's on TV weekly) So i don't think it's that bad...

And ixidor, I usually say that to my e-donkey... :P

And this is what I have to say about it... prepare for a big ass white block :P
Spoiler wrote:Gaara fighting an Akatsuki member is COMPLETELY random, remember it is Naruto and the Kyuubi that Akatsuki is after. Them picking to go after Gaara does not relate to the original plot at all. Also, so what if the person has Gaara...you know that he's going to get out of it somehow. If he doesn't then I will be very surprised, whats to stop him from using his sand to escape? (I could be missing something, because I use Narutofan.com and a subbed version hasn't been released yet) Also, the new Akatsuki chick's moves are all the same... creating animals and making them explode EXPLOSIONS! The thing that DBZ had the most of.
Who are you? Almost any Naruto fan would go against what your saying. I don't read the manga but I know why their after Gaara, it's not random. Also, they couldn't even find Naruto so they gotta look for something else right? "duh duh"

Allright my thoughts are there, if you still disagree PM me because I'm sure people here would not care for this random argument

That's what I meant to type that.

I seriously cannot see much of a similarity between Naruto and DBZ. Sure, the creator was greatly inspired by the DBZ series, but Naruto is obviously very well planned out.

With DBZ, each arc has almost no corolation with each other aside from minimal references and flashbacks. Also, there is a big lack of character development. The characters seem to grow bigger muscles every episode, but their personality develops ridiculously slow for such a long series. Even after they die like ten times, they hardly seem to learn much from their past experiences.

The villans are even worse. They're just there for the sake of being there, and their only ambition is usually just blowing up the world/universe. They show no character or flashbacks of the bad guys. In my opinion, DBZ's heros and villans are too black and white.

I'm actually very impressed on how well the Naruto manga was planned out. For example, when Kakashi passes Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, he said that one of his friend's name was carved under the list of heros who have died on duty, but that was never really fully explained until around chapter 230. And the creator waited for around two arcs before depicting what exactly happened with "that certain man" that Sasuke wanted to kill.

Also, the 'villans' of Naruto are very complex. Although characters like Orochimaru were obviously evil, characters like Haku, Zabuza, Gaara, Temari, etc. are definately questionable. Plus, the series often show scenes from their childhoods which allow the viewers to have sympathy for them. DBZ's creator seems to make the characters way too simple as far as good and evil go, and offers a limited amount of characters that one can relate to.

Even the short arcs like the Zabuza arc had strong character development. Naruto and the others learned the true meaning of being a Shinobi, and Inari along with the rest of the town found hope once again. If you give DBZ nine episodes and tell them to make an arc out of it, chances are they won't even do half as good as Naruto did.

Yes, I wrote a lot, but I wanted to get to all of my points and I hate double posting.

That isn't what the topic is about really. The topic says "Naruto. Another DBZ?" That means what it means. Nothing to do with similarities or same creators or storyline. Its talking about how Naruto is becoming another DBZ lengthly wise and how the topic takes forever to progress.

During the chuunin battles when konoha and Orichamaru and Gaara and blah blah blah. That took aggeess to do. There were episodes that were just to put in between. And recently the story has 5 different ones going on at the same time!

-Naruto chasing Sasuke
-Shikamaru vs scary woman :D
-Lee and Kimamaru
-Akamaru vs dude
-Konoha Tsunade realising that Lee is gone

It does this all the time its just really annoying when you are looking forward to the next episode and find its another crap one. This was the same with DBZ.

Well, then almost all weekly series would be 'another DBZ'. Even though the animation companies release episodes weekly, manga artists are going to need vacations once in a while. Also, since each Naruto episode is around 2-3 manga chapters, eventually, the anime is going to catch up with the manga. Filler episodes are there to help the writer with the pace.

It's true that Naruto is a long series, but like I said in my previous post, each arc carresponds with the previous ones in some way and are important. Some questions, such as 'Kakashi's friend' and 'the guy Sasuke wants to kill' were left unanswered until later arcs, unlike DBZ, where each arc is just there for the simple reason of being there. Naruto's arcs are all necessary in some way, so I'm not complaining too much about the storyline.

If all long series are 'just another DBZ', then I guess series like Detective Conan/Case Closed (350+ ep) would be one too, huh?

Yeah i get what your saying. I wonder though, when Naruto will end? Will it be that maybe someone dies, or naruto becomes the youngest Hokage (or if he becomes one when hes older)?
