Shinseiki (Neon Genesis) Evangelion
Hi! I wanna start a new subject about Evangelion. Something about the structure of Eva's. Isn't it kinda strange that most of the Evas have a cable attached to their back.
Doesn't it get stuck between the buildings???
Anyway,Evangelion is one of the most philosophical Animes I've ever seen,so I'm sure there will be more posts.

To answer your question about the cable, simply, did you watch the third episode? As for the cable getting caught, it's simple anime physics, nothing goes wrong unless it's scripted.
"I've spent the last ten years of my life defending my country, I've sacrificed for it, fought for it, and bled for it, now it's time I got something back, so please just respect me and my fellow Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines as we continue to do this job."

The umbilical cable is a limiting factor, but that is part of the reason why Tokyo-3 was constructed. Not every building was real. Some buildings were weapon hoists and others contained other umbilicles to power the Evangelions on.
Asuka once had her Eva-2 hung up on the umbilicle. It was either caught on something or it was out of length and she changed it out with another one nearby. This was in the episode with the "Sea of Dirac" spherical angel.
Ritsuko once said that the umbilicles and batteries for the Eva were at the limit of the available technology, but Seele showed that they were terrified at the idea of truly independant Evangelions. Their shock and anger when Unit-1 took into itself an angel's S-2 engine makes me think that they kept the first few Eva's limited in their capabilities intentionally.
This is complicated by the disappearance of the Eva at Nevada site. Did the second branch and the Eva disappear because of an accident or sabatoge? So many conspiricies and lies, it is hard to tell.

It was all about control. The armor plating, the umbilical cable -- all of it.
Or, to paraphrase Ritsuko in Splitting Beast: "The Evangelions were created by Man, in Man's own image."
And, to paraphrase Misato in the same episode: "Don't give me that crap! You messed with something you couldn't understand."
Also, on Eva Unit 04:

I hope you're being sarcasticbum wrote:What's Shinseiki (Neon Genesis) Evangelion? Is it some new anime or something?
Shin Seiki Evangelion is simply the Japanese title, and the Shin Seiki is two words, not one
