I recently got the imported sub of this anime and all I have to say is... that anime freakin rocks! First off, for those of you who have a weak stomach or have a sense of moral death, than this anime is NOT for you. Anyone who doesn't have that weakness (err...trait) will most likely enjoy this anime. The first 10 minutes of the first episode is an absolute blood bath with 32 (I watched it three times through and counted) gory deaths. And thats not the last of the deaths, oh trust me. Plenty of times through the anime are parts in which one of the charcters goes on a killing spree (for whatever reason). The person who kills all those people in the beginning is, suprisingly enough, some girl named Lucy, or Nyu, who is just her other personality who is innocent and cute and doesn't know how talk and just says "Nyu!" (henced the name Nyu). She has some strange power, (I can't remember what they called it) or disease as it is refered to, in which they have extra "hands" that allow them to do something as harmless as pick something up or something fatal like slice people in half and rip off their heads. One of the visual side-effects of this disease is little horns growing out from their heads (deja vu for some strange reason >_>; ). Believe me when I say this anime has ALOT of violence. In one of these gruesome parts, Lucy (evil personality) gets into a fight with her more innocent counter-part clone and thus, later in the battle Nana lets down her gaurd, and she has her arms and legs ripped off. (don't worry, they find her some replacement limbs ^_^; ) She leaves her there until her "papa" comes and so call, "bitch" slaps lucy (Lucy just runs away o_o; ) . Overall the story is very deep and compelling and you don't figure out where the disease come from until around the middle of the series. The animation of course is next to flawless, but suprisingly not that serious looking. You would suspect from what I've told you so far for this anime to look somewhat like Ghost In The Shell or Evangelion, right? Not even close. In fact, the animation looks more like something you would see on Love Hina or Fruits Basket. Though don't let that throw you off, the animation can be quit serious when need be. And the Voice acting is excellent of course with plenty of celebreties Voice actors playing the lead roles. The only negative I could find was that sometimes it was hard to see where the storyline was going. And there was some parts that left you scratching your head and saying " What just happened?..." But thats the best part of it too! You never understand some parts until later on when they almost literally throw the answer in your face. There even is some romance! They love triangle between Kouta (main character dude), his cousin (forgot her name...;yes, I said his COUSIN) and Nyu/Lucy. The characters are very well done and you become attached to them very quickly. Overall, this anime is nonetheless very good. I suggest, if you can, get this anime as soon as possible and watch it all the way through. You will be glad you did.

Second, I liked Elfen Lied, though violent, I thought it was an extremely exeptional anime. Lucy is perhaps one of my favorite charaters next to Asuka and Aeka. My only problem is that the series left off only halfway through the story. The manga goes a lot farther into Lucy after the encounter on the bridge, which is why I am hoping for a second series.

Watching a person get their heart ripped out and moving a blood vessel in a person's brain by a milimeter sounds fun too ^)^
