You're not exactly helping to the situation by judging others. Who cares if they want to dress up in head bands and shouting whatever line they want. It's thier right to. It doesn't make them any less of a anime fan as you or me or anyone else.Garylisk wrote:First of all, don't post links to sites where anime is available for download.
Second of all, I'd like to make a statement.
Much like many things that peopel eityher love or hate, Naruto, I hate to tell all you fanboys and fangirls, is a fad. Plain and simple, it's an anime fad. Just like DBZ, it will fall to the background someday, and people will stop caring about it all together. I've been at an anime convention this past weekend, and let me assure you, the number of Naruto headbands and such makes me feel ill. Not only do I personally feel that it's a stupid show with very little to hold it together... But the fans also sicken me.
They mispronounce the show's title, saying "nah-ROO'doh" - Jesus, you watch it fansubbed, listen to how it's supposed to be pronounced when someone says Naruto's name. They all wear these headbands with the metal plates on them like it's a fucking fad (WHICH IT IS!). And most importantly, they are mostly the younger crowd, which tends to bother me, because most of them are kind of ignorant towards others. No respect. The little Naruto brats at this con, for the most part, were rude as hell whenever they could be.
ANd did I mention that most of the Naruto fans nowadays also contribute to one of the things that will fucking kill anime in this country, and that's downloading licensed stuff. STOP THAT, YOU LITTLE BRATS! WAIT TIL IT COMES OUT OVER HERE AND WATCH IT ON CARTOON NETWORK OR BUY THE DVDS! CHRIST, THAT MAKS ME SICK!
I hate how some people have a air of superiority towards anime and judge you by what anime you watch. it's all the same.

No, I'm one of the peopel who helped make it big by promoting to friends, fansubbing, making AMVs, and generally pushing it around. I hoped and knew that anime would become a more accepted and love form of entertainment, and it has.x_rex30 wrote:Wha!? o.O... And much like anyone else, I'm entitled to my opinion, amd yopu're entitled to yours, but don't tell me what I am and am not, thank you very much.

Now that I've double posted here, I'll triple post just to be more annoying.Utorak wrote:Okay that is Cosplay if u are a true anime fan then u would want to get as involved as you can to anime. This also means that if your an anime fan then you would be pleased to see someone getting into their favourite anime so much... Dont flame about stuff that is cool
It's not cosplay unless you're wearing a costume! A headguard from Naruto worn with your damn street clothes while you're hanging around at the coffee shop isn't cosplaying, but I know peopel who do it! And so, correct me if I a m wrong, wearing a headguard, tennis shoes, jeans, a T-Shirt, and a Nintendo armband (Another frickin' fad I could go on and on about, but I won't...) ISN'T COSPLAY! It's jsut wearing something because you wanna be cool! And mind you, there's NOTHING wrong with that, but it's NOT COSPLAY. I express that that ANNOYS ME - my OPINION. I think that it's a GOD DAMN FAD. MY OPINION!
DON'T YOU DARE JUDGE ME , YOU LOW-LIFE.
Now that that's over with, to those who did NOT judge me, sorry if I ruffled your feathers, but honestly, I was annoyed by many things this past weekend and needed to vent somehow. I appreciate that you did not suppose things about me or my past with anime and the fandom in general, and that you did not accuse me or judge me upon grounds which you yourself are just maybe uncertain on. Thanks.

So, you were promoting then? :\ Alright, I'll take your word for it.Garylisk wrote:No, I'm one of the peopel who helped make it big by promoting to friends, etc.x_rex30 wrote:Wha!? o.O... That's not a good way of stating something as an opinion, it sounds a lot more like generalizing. You make it sound like your trying to state what something is, and not so much what you think it is, so no matter how much you say your entitled to your own opinion, you still sound like your generalizing.Much like many things that peopel eityher love or hate, Naruto, I hate to tell all you fanboys and fangirls, is a fad. OK well, sorry for making an ass out of myself. I honestly got a little too aggrivated over something small, and I should really just act my age and not getso upset over a debate on the internet. My sincere apologies to all I offended. I've had all afternoon to think about this, and I realize I've probably presented myself to a lot of people in a bad way.
Again, sorry.
On a positive note, and to show that I am not making unfounded opinions, I have watched Naruto plenty times in the past, and in order to understand it better and to also be able to present my arguments in an even more enlightened fashion, I will be sitting down with my friend Josh and watching all the episodes at some point. I did it with DBZ, I'll do it with Naruto. (And by the way, after watching all of DBZ with him, I came to see the shows good points in a better light, though I still think it could have been a lot shorter and kept all it's good point in tact. But that's another subject altogether.)

In the entire cosmic of things, anime is basically a fad. Just like bell-bottoms or disco balls.
And sorry if I pointed fingers at you, Garylisk. I just get frustrated when someone bashes a anime and that fan cause alot of people like it or cause that you're not a true anime fan if you like it.
I see someone who watches DBZ as someone who downloads fan subs to anime I havn't ever heard of. We are all the same. It's just choice of preference.
As for just wearing something from a anime, I consider even wearing a headband cosplaying. I know I wouldn't wear it just to be cool but just to show my support to a series I enjoy (well...the manga that is...Ive just seen 3 episodes of the anime).

Anime has a bunch of different styles. And bell bottoms and disco balls is just one style. So how can you generalize such things! *growls* I'd like to hear a good example backing up that statement, but I don't think that's going to happen. rofl, lol *runs*The Hitokiri Battousai wrote:In the entire cosmic of things, anime is basically a fad.
