ADV is releasing RahXephon and FMP complete collections this spring, which as far as I know will be in thinpaks with a cardboard box. Noir set should be coming soon too.
They were going to rerelease Noir, RahXephon, and FMP as both regular and HD in one box, but ADV Films has since then delayed all three of the rereleases (although the source mentions that this is more of an "indefinite delay", or cancellaton).
I believe they've ditched the HD idea in favour of traditional boxsets.

Thanks for posting that link, Dokool....the quality upgrade is undeniable. But one thing caught my eye, i wanted to ask about... look at frame one and frame cleaned up here:

and here

From Shinjii's position it seems to be the exact same frame, so...why is the Eva's eye no longer glowing? Is it actually a few frames later, and it has faded back to black? or one of the changes to the dvd episodes? its not a big deal, but i can't help but wonder...

No, it's a new edit. It could be that when it was being remastered, someone who looked over the footage thought that would be a much better edit.

I mean, at this point, you think that the Eva is completely turned off. Then, it moves on its own and, after Shinji lowers his arms and looks at the Eva (in the Platinum version), the eyes slowly fade in.

Personally, I like it. :)

Off topic...I prefer the manga than to the anime. It explains alot more about Nerv, the Angels, Seele, Gendo and Yui, Kaji, and the relationship between Shinji and Rei.

If this is the same exact time frame from this series, then I am a little disappointed. It sorta looks like some filters I would use in Avisynth to make the quality look cleaner. If you look at the helmet, it looks like some details were taken out!

I had this link translated by Google. It shows the DVDs available in Japan with the Renewal of Evangelion release. They all went on sale during the summer and fall of 2003 with a large push by Gainax of all kinds of merchandise (including a sequal to the Girlfriend of Steel and the manga). The covers for the individual DVDs are just like the ones that are being released over here, but they have a sweet box set in the middle (that we are unlikely to see over here) :?

I don't recall any DVD remasters/reissues like this driven by the Japanese market. That's why I was excited by this one. Anyone know of any others?

The only deleted scenes I saw were added the director's cut episodes (22,23,and 24) which we saw winter of last year. I still do not know the disposition of the last two remaining DVDs to be released, but I have seen nothing of deleted scenes on them (other than the animatics which can have alternate takes on things).

Renewal included the original eps (with deleted scenes), and so will Platinum.
