lol well ok it was flame bait but i stand behind every last word. As for lum plushie i have to use a sponge on her or else the paint comes off her eyes. Usually I tell my little brother there is something sticky on her eyes and he licks them.
Uncle Milo-we know you worship the man. And hes a great artist I agree. But just because he makes something does not make it good. Spirited away does in fact SUCK! it's not his best it's not near his best. And if you pay attention to what i wrote he intends the movie for 10 year old girls. I was simply saying that it is not a movie for 10 year old girls it is a movie for tripping pot heads or something.
The real whatsyamacallit-Jumping to insults does no good. why do you like spirited away? It's got it's moments but it's nothing spectacular its mostly wierd and boring.

I honestly feel Sen no Chihiro is far from one of Miyazaki's best, it just wasn't quite as good as any of the rest, but IMO, it FARRR surpasses the level of "suck", i still think its greatMroni wrote:lol well ok it was flame bait but i stand behind every last word. Mr. Oni...
Normally, I have no interest in having conversations with people like you. Your opinions are often shallow and without any basis and when I compare the crap you like to the stuff you insult, I know there's nothing I can do to crack past that neanderthal brain of yours.
If you read what I wrote, I never argued about who it was written for. At the sneak preview, he even said on stage that he wrote the movie for these girls he knew...
but what does that mean? Do you honestly think the movie was just for them?
Well... it outgrossed all other movies that have shown in Japan. It outgrossed Princess Mononoke (the 2nd Highest) and Titanic (the highest grossing movie in Japan until Spirited Away came out)
Now... I'm not saying that income makes a good movie (because I sure hate Titanic) but I'm trying to show you that more people are seeing this film other than 10 year olds.
THe people in the audience at the sneak preview over in Hollywood were filled with adults who gave a standing ovation to the man.
They respect him as being a brillinat artist... as a man who has made an impact in the film world that will last like all the other greats.
I don't worship the man, as worship implies blind devotion
I have profound respect for the man for he is a modern-day Mozart... his animation and his art are enormous steps above the commercial tripe that people normally talk about on this board.
I mean... I can enjoy a show like Tenchi Muyo or Ranma 1/2... and they're great shows... but they are nothing compared to the stunning brilliance of the works of Studio Ghibli.
It would be like comparing a masterwork like Lawrence of Arabia to Buffy the Vampire Slayer... sure Buffy is fun to watch and it's a neat show... but come on...
I have not seen ALL of the Ghibli films, but movies such as Kiki's Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Whispers of the Heart, and Spirited Away are designed for the young and old.
Spirited away, aside from being beautiful in both the animation and the art, is a well crafted story with all the best aspects of story telling. It is filled with Japanese folk-lore, it is filled with some important lessons in life and it is a mystical and joyopus film. Story telling on this level is yet another art form.
An anime that just has a bunch of people shooting each other is much more "childish" than a movie like SPirited Away.
If you don't like Spirited Away's story, you should still respect the craftwork of the film. I know many brilliant movies that I have not liked, but I still respect the artistry and give it it's due respect.
Even Ghibli's films which are a little more adult oriented, such as Pompoko, Princess Mononoke and Grave of the Fireflies are handled with a gentle love that make these films exceptional.
You talked about a "shit-demon" which shows how little you even get the movie. A movie you claim is for 10-year old girls and you don't even get what is going on it!
Now... anyone who spouts out that "everyone is entitled to their opinion" crap...
let me give you an answer to that...
Mr. Oni has every right to his opinion. He can stick with it and stand by it as much as he wants.
However... MY OPINION, which I am equally entitled to, is that Mr. Oni is a simple-minded moron. That unless a story has guns, knives, explosions and boobs, it is going to be way beyond the minimal capacity Mr. Oni has to understand. My opinion is that people who can so openly display a complete disregard for truse masterwork (like the films of Studio Ghibli) are not worth my time or interest.
As I said, I normally don't reply to these kind of posts, because the flagrant stupidity displayed in the empty, vacuous comments of Mr. Oni and those like him are nothing but frustrating to me. He's just as bad as the people who think that animation is for kids and treat animation accordingly.
I keep reading posts from people who blame movies and TV shows for their own inability to understand it.
I don't get the end of the Evangelion TV show... so it's stupid.
I don't get the NieA_7 TV show... nothing happens... so it's stupid
I don't get the Hakkenden... so it's stupid
Spirited Away was made for kids and I don't understand why anyone older than 10 would like it... so it's stupid.
Japanese Animation is just for little kids, like any other animation... anyone older than 12 who watches it must be stupid.
Before you post something like that, consider this: Perhaps it's not the SHOW that is stupid... get away from the computer and look in a mirror... see anything there? That's what's stupid....
I have already wasted enough time on stupid.

Oh yes...
I didn't check my post for typos. I'm sure there will be some as I typed as I was thinking and didn't feel like going back.
I frequently see people ignoring all the issues in a post because there's a typo in it.
For people who think finding a typo in an arguement instantly defeats the argument... I give you the same advice.
Get up from your computer... look in a mirror... say hello to the idiot you see in there...

I only have one thing to say: If Mozart lived in our day and age, then he would be locked up in an insane asylum.
I'm not implying anything about Miyazaki though, so don't take it that way. I love his work, and I do want to see Spirited Away, no matter how much like an acid trip it may be.

Everyone is not the same as you.
Get over it.
And lighten up.

well, everyone IS entitled to their opinion, so that statement being 'crap' is just yours i suppose...you seem to be annoyed by people who say that, why? seems pretty fair to me, it doesnt mean an opinion can't be argued or disagreed with so i don't see what's wrong with it. As long as you are able to accept the fact that the opinions of many people can't be easily changed then the above statement wont even affect you.
anyways, i agree with the rest of what you wrote

Uncle Milo-Woah ouch ok. Before I post any further i am going to say that I am watching a Miyazaki film right now I'm currently enjoying. Whispers of the heart. Now since you cannot comprehend this let me try to explain it to you once again. I being me
In no way:
1.See all anime as for children wtf
2.I would not show spirited away to any 10 year old because 1. they would find it boring.2. they would not understand it. 3.Its got a shit monster in it
3. Mozart made some good music but alot of boring stuff as well is it possible that the people were cheering not for the movie but for the man? Kind of like when people cheered for Rumiko Takahashi after they had just got done watching that horrible ranma movie.
4. Guns babes and bullets -Nothing wrong with these to straight adult males
Miyazaki is not worth the spit on Takahashis shoes sorry it's just a fact that's my oppinion and I'm sticking to it like lum plushie sticks to the wall after a long night of me having self love. The best actress in titanic was Roseanne barr who played the ship.
As for NeiA under 7 I spent 120 bucks to find out the ending to it and It didn't have one wtf only a retard like you thinks that no ending is a good thing it's like reading a great book and stopping halfway through. As for neon genesis it was a great show until the ending which only a retard like you would like. As for the wtf hackandslash or what not is that some kind of gay anime?
Uncle milo you are seriously ill individual maybe you should come out of the closet and confess the fact you are a homosexual. want a cry towel?
