I swear ADV paid some Hong Kong company to purposedly make it bad. The show not only has a really horrible script translation (but the subs are decent), but the actors sound like the people who dubbed those older Godzilla films.
Nadesico's dub is fairly bad as well. The voices are very decent but it seems they can't get the pronunctiation of half of the main characters' names right. Yurika isn't named after a vacuum cleaner company.

Heh ought to make a thread called Japanese voice acting that sucks but I'll drop that. Love hina is by far the worst dub. It's a typical cheesy dub using about 3 voice actors to replace 5 or 6. Kitsunes voice is an alwful obviously fake southern accent. Since the untrained ear can't pick up the difference between regular japanese and an osakan accent anyway I don't think they even need to do this kind of crap. Anyway is Su susposed to sound retarded?

I have to disagree. I enjoyed the dub of eva more than the sub. The sub voices sounded a little artificial. Mabey a bit squeeky or that might just be how jap girls sound when shouting. About asuka. "oscar" probably sounds more accurate. She's german remember. A-Su-Ka sounds a bit too much like a jap name.yprbest wrote:And finally, I have to put in a vote for Neon Genesis Evangelion - the only show that's made me actually want to kill the person responsible for voicing a main character. I was so glad when I got my hands on the subbed version (this was after having to watch the first three VHS's dubbed). Also - Oscar? Hello, it's spelt with an "A"! A-Su-Ka! Is it really t)
