a suggestion:
try to present this newsletter as a somewhat formalized thing. you'll be much more likely to attract writers and staff. a major concern going into voluntary projects is that the organizers and contributers won't devote enough effort to keep the project moving.
a website (even if it's a geocities one) would show that you're dedicated to the newsletter, and would give potential contributors an easy means of finding out about the status of the project.
good luck with the newsletter.

I think a website, forum, and AIM meetup are all great ideas. Is everyone available Tomorrow/Friday? we could chat before the RDS show, and through it if necessary (though I'll be a little distracted). Start at 7EST? We can figure out the basics, and some of the specifics, and then we'll have a proposal to show Phade/AD.
And I can set up a forum, but HTML is evil. Anyone else have a bit of skill in that area and willing to set up a very basic site?

I think a get-together would be a really good idea, unfortunately, I don't have/use AIM, i have MSN, but I think a forum setup might be simpler, or more easily accessible, one idea is to use proboards.com, since I figure this whole set-up for a meeting is temporary, and proboards is fairly simple to use

Well, I think when we get working on this, we're going to need a place to organize everything, and a forum is a great place to do that. Like AP, I'm good with forums, but I suck at html, so I'm no help there lol.
But yeah, tomorrow at 7pm sounds good for me. Just in case some of us don't make it, I would suggest that the chat log be saved, and then it can be posted on the forum (for the newsletter) for everyone else to read so they can get caught up.
The best way to get this started, is to have our meeting, and get the basic set up, just so we have a place to work. We can decide exactly what that work will be at a later date lol.
I would also suggest that we start adding people who are interested in this idea to our individual AIM and MSN lists so we can get to know each other better, and to bounce ideas back and forth.

I think Resk hit the spot. If and when this gets going, people should be in contact somehow. As for the forum, like I said earlier, if you want something simple, check out proboards.com, no html required (as far as I know, unless you wanna add some extra goodies) 7pm EST *goes to figure out what time that is in Ottawa* oh, lol, 7pm lucky me ;p yeah 7 should be fine...
If anybody wants, I've got loads of free time lately, I could set up the forum at proboards if that's what's gonna happen...
(and my MSN is kristyrat@hotmail.com)

dammit, this no edit really bothers me...
If you want to email me, I'd prefer if you used kristyrat@gmail.com just because my hotmail is littered with junk and I only see emails from my contacts now
or you could just PM me lol
