The only real "ban" that I can think of here is the <MA> rating on the first disc of Azumanga Daioh. Otherwise as far as I know the OFLC hasn't banned anything.
well they never even showed it on toonami or toonami late run or adult swim
They never showed a lot of those things on cartoon network...

!_!? How does that make something banned. I'm thinking more along the lines of the contoversial Frence film "Baise Moi (Kiss/Rape Me)" complete and utter bannage.

As for Azumaga Daioh. Sly (Madman monkey) has told me it's due to Kimura sensei's actions in the 4th episode. being at tad too... you get the idea. I had a thread about it last year... *digs* here

The censorship board isn't fucked up, they are just worried about the kids.
Regaurdless of how you look at it little kids are attracted to animated & non-animated cartoons (comics & manga) and the censorship board for any country has to have some control over what gets distributed.

One more thing, Vegeta_ssj4; IT'S CALLED GRAMMAR. YOU SHOULD TRY USING IT!

I want to make it clear once for all: the videogame name is "Leisure Suit Larry: MAGNA cum laude", in latin it should mean "eat with joy", (or happiness, whatever you prefer), but you, who know english far better than me understand that the world "cum" might mean something else in your language... so it could be (eat, cum and joy).

I am not quite sure, maybe in latin could mean also "eat a lot", because laude has two meanings.. but who cares.

I wrote it because you keep on writing MANA or MANGA.

back In topic, in Italy I didn't hear about anime ban, here they censure rather than ban, When I was jounger and I watched anime in the tv broadcast, most of the episodes were cut, any single scene that could make you think about sex was cut, I can still remember a dragon ball episode, where goku touches bulma in the middle of her legs and he understands that there was something strange because he expected to find something else (He still thought that everybody were men in the world), well in the tv broadcast, they cut that part away. I discovered it in the manga and in the dvds.

'cum laude', 'magna cum laude', and 'summa cum laude' (they rank from lowest to highest) are all honors given at graduation to students of high achievement - I think it varies from school to school, but the minimum GPA for CL is around 3.3-3.4, 3.5-3.6 for MCL, and anywhere from 3.7 to 4.0 for SCL.

As far as the intent, 'cum laude' is "with praise". "Magna" adds "lots of" and "summa" adds "the most."

Oh, and Vegeta - You may not care, but we do. We'll 'grow up' when you stop typing like a 11-year-old who rides the short bus to school.

yeah you are right, I did a terrible mistranslation in english :) this the most common way to use those words, I just thought that they wanted to joke with the words, as they did in larry 7 "love for sail" (instead of love for sale). I think I should quit translating latin to english, for now at least, anyway we are terribly ot :)

...and going back to the subject - can anyone confirm this: I heard a number of hentai titles are prohibited from being brought into Canada (i.e., are on the customs list to be confiscated). I've seen a list somewhere, but it honestly doesn't make sense to me; for instance I recall Words Worth being on there, and yet last year I've seen the DVD's of that on sale at a con here...
