Alright, I just saw Steel Angel Kurumi 2, and loved every second of it. Not that I didn't think it was good, but I had a few questions after the end.
What happened to Nakahito? Did he die? What happened to Kurumi? I remember hearing that she did not have the ability to de-activate. But, she had to be re-activated. Do the Steel Angels de-activate when their Master dies?
Nakahito, Misaki, and Nako all share the same last name (Kagura) so, I'm going to assume that they are related. Are they Nakahito's descendents, or his brother's? If they are Nakahito's descendents, that would mean that Kurumi is the grandmother / great-grandmother of Misaki / Nako, wouldn't it?
How will the Kagura family line continue if Kurumi, Nako, and Uruka are all lesbians...?
And, lastly, is there anything important that I have forgotten to ask about? I know that's an akward question, but is there anything else that I should know?

Well, the first season of Steel Angel Kurumi takes place sometime in the 1910s and 1920s, and Nakahito is only around 14 at the time. The second season flashes forward to the 2000's. If Nakahito were alive, he would be approximately 110. So, the mathematical answer would be that he isn't.
This could have most likely happened. If Nakahito died before his time, then it is possible that Kurumi and sisters were shut down and put into their "sarcophogai".EvaXephon wrote:What happened to Kurumi? Another piece that lends credence to this reasoning: In Season Two, Nako was being spoken to by the voice of Dr. Ayanokouji, who was probably in his 40s or 50s in Nakahito's time. The only way he could have still been around to record the messages and oversee the remaking of the three Angels was if he were there personally. It doesn't make sense that he would be there if he were 90-100 years old, so something must have happened to shut down Kurumi, Saki, and Karinka beforehand.
(It probably explains something in the manga, but I haven't read it.)
They should most likely be his brother's descendants.EvaXephon wrote:Nakahito, Misaki, and Nako all share the same last name (Kagura) so, I'm going to assume that they are related. Are they Nakahito's descendents, or his brother's?
Note that Nakahito is in the flashbacks in Season Two being carried by "Kurumi" (represented by an "Iron Giant" that Misaki always thought the Steel Angels looked like

Steel Angels, being androids, cannot have children. (As Mikhail says in Season One, "Kurumi is just a thing".) This can't be proven (unless it's covered in the manga), but it makes the most logical sense.EvaXephon wrote:If they are Nakahito's descendents, that would mean that Kurumi is the grandmother / great-grandmother of Misaki / Nako, wouldn't it?
Either there are more descendants of the Kagura family out there, Nako will eventually leave Kurumi (which probably won't happen), or the line does end here (which might happen, since the bits I've read about Steel Angel Kurumi Zero hints that the Angels might be awakened again not by the Kagura line this time).EvaXephon wrote:How will the Kagura family line continue if Kurumi, Nako, and Uruka are all lesbians...?
Just to watch both sub and dub of the Second Season, as not only are there slight changes in wording, but Kelli Cousins throws in a lot of American sayings into her protrayal of Kurumi this time around (ex. "Home again, home again, jiggity jig.")EvaXephon wrote:And, lastly, is there anything important that I have forgotten to ask about? ...Yeah...I figured that he would be dead...But, you know, there is always that insane hope that we hang onto that a character won't be dead, even if it is physically / mathematically impossible...even though half of the joy of anime is how it defies the laws of physics and mathematics!
Hm, now I remember about Dr. Ayanokouji's voice recording...Makes me wonder if something big went down. I wonder how much is explained in the manga - if anything at all...Ooh, I've gotta check it out.

Mikhail did say that, but Dr. Ayanokouji said something to the effect of, "You shouldn't think of them as things, they are real beings, with souls."
Weird...The Angels can eat and bleed (covered in the Extras sections on one of the DVDs) but they can't have children? Hm...You know, I'd think that if the topic ever came up, Kurumi would ask Dr. Ayanokouji to 'upgrade' her so that she was capable of giving birth...Then again, the offspring of a Mystic and a Steel Angel, that's a scary thought...
With all the magical and mystical and religious stuff, it makes me wonder if they wouldn't need intercourse to produce offspring...Ah, now I'm just speculating.
Thank you very, very much for taking the time to answer my questions! ^_^

Personally, I didn't want to speculate about Nakahito and Kurumi doing that sort of thing, so I tried not to think about it when I watched season 2. The "brothers' descendants" idea is probably most plausible, but you have to admit, Nako's mom really does share many of the same ditzy personality traits as Kurumi. . .

You're welcome.
Also, I forgot to post a link to where you can get information on the manga:
