Illegal?
Hello, everyone. I am new to these forums but I want to know if anyone knows whether or not downloading these videos are illegal. I have been struggling with this question for some time now and would like to know if anyone has any hard information on this matter.

some animes copyright dont support naming illegal these type of stuff and most of the japanese series dont have copyrights that why you see the fansubs giving out free episodes on internet (there may be something illegal in the 55,000 AMVs but nothing to worry about)
If you havent watched "the fullmetal alchemist" watch it.
If you cant or you dont want just commit suicide (theres no reason for living after that)

You're also wrong, but for other reasons. AMVs are illegal even if you buy your source and credit the creators, because you don't have rights to manipulate the footage.SOAD2k8 wrote:As long as the creator is not profiting/selling the video and gives credit to the creators, im pretty sure that it isn't illegal. That would explain why this ste hasn't been shut down
As far as why the 'Org hasn't been shut down... well, that's up for debate, but the main theory is that the RIAA has more important things to worry about and the anime companies, for the most part, consider us to be a valuable promotional tool.

The difference between non-profit and profit only affects how the legal process will work. If it's non-profit, the actual copyright holder has to make a case against you themselves and it's sometimes a PITA for them to do so. If it's profit-making then the government can take up the case themselves.
As to why it happened to the org, I've no idea but I'm very glad that it hasn't.
