I'm not taking any chances sending it though, I'm going purlator, I never thought I'd ever pay that much to send a package though!

Heh...just finished sending 2 more AMV's to AN...This time it's my friends AMV's since he was too busy to be able to send it, he asked me to. I set it express just to make sure it gets there on time.

That sucks, you might be able to get the post office to post mark it yesterday for you and send it out express. Just an idea.

Good luck to everyone who's entered. See you at the con.

Quick question.

As this is the first time I have entered the AMV contest at Anime North, I was wondering if you let people know if they make it to the finals. IE do you e-mail the finalists saying they are in the finals (I know you won't say if they won or not). I remember back in 2003 (I think) where the finalists had badges that let them get in ahead of time and saying that they were finalists. Is something like this still being done?

Thanks for any help anyone provides.

Actually, we have a list of the names of all the AMV participants. We reserve a couple of the rows near the front every year and this year should be no different.

And for the record, we have 90 entries this year. The final count is 4 premiere, 16 open, 44 novice, 15 challenge, 9 exhibition and 2 with no entry forms.

AN2005 Tentative AMV schedule

Post by Initial B » Tue May 24, 2005 8:21 pm

Rather than make a new thread, I thought I'd ressurect this thread to announce the tentative schedule for the showing of the Music Video Competition events at AN2005.

7pm Thursday - the pre-con party where we will show the exhibition entries.

9-11:30pm Friday - We will show the Premiere, Challenge, and Open videos (hopefully in that order)

11:30pm-2am Friday - The AMV Creators Party. As last year, this is an event for the creators (+1 guest) to get together and gab about the event and talk shop. We've managed to secure the con-suite this year and we'll probably be allowed to order pizza, wings, donuts and other munchies. We'll also have a DVD player available so creators can critique each other's videos as well as discuss what went right (or wrong) with the event this year, changes that we could make for next year and new possibilities for the challenge category.

9am-10:30am Saturday - Novice Entries: The Rest

10:30am-12noon Saturday - Novice Entries: The Best (Sorry, but with the amount of novice entries this year we didn't want to force people to sit through three hours of video without knowing which ones the judges thought were better than some of the others.

3pm-4:30pm Saturday - The Finalists: This will be the entries that the judges felt deserved an honourable mention or higher. It's an hour of the best entries of 2005 from all categories and will be topped off with the awards ceremony at the end. I would like to get all the finalists onto the stage at the end for a round of applause from the attendees.

1pm-5pm Sunday - The AMV Competition Repeat: For those who couldn't get enough or missed some the first time around, we'll show all the entries (save the rest of the novice) one more time: Exhibition, Best Novice, Challenge, Premier, Open, and Finalists.

Well, the con is almost upon us. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Ganbatte!

Only four Premiere? Now I worry I should have put myelf in the lower category. ><;; It's so hard to judge yourself.

Thanks for the schedule (tenative as it is)- it takes a lot of stress off, knowing whats more or less going on when.

And the after-party is back- Great! I hope I see more people there this year.

Does anyone here know if they're going yet?

Are you kidding? Of course there will be more people - we had almost 100 entries! And since when has any con-goer turned down free food?
