You're basically making all these empty promises about how this contest will improve while ignoring the most commonly-made complaints (namely about the reputation that Kunicon has garnered and how Kunicon management has no intention on rectifying it). The fact that in another thread you don't seem to realize that yes, you SHOULD check the amv contest before it's displayed to the public shows how incompently hopeless the situation is.Michieru wrote:If you think I am going to mess up this upcoming AMV contest your wrong. Considering that not a single Kunicon thread on a-m-v.org has made Kunicon look anything <i>but</i> incompetent, you might as well just pack up now and look for brighter pastures.

I have no intension on saying thing's I cannot keep, the kunicon staff can be improved I am just awaiting manny's decision once this is done I know I would be there to fix these issues myself. So I can offer the best support I can to the fans at ATL. I am more mature than to say stuff I cannot keep or do, I know my limits and manny as well and I am sure hopeful he would not put me in a position where he has me do something which I have no knowledge of. I never said that this convention is going to be the best. But I know it's going to be the best one repaired and hopefully the one at denver would even have a more advanced than the one in ATL. I respect your opinions but you seem to take me as someone who makes false accusations and is looking to bribe members to submit there work to us so we can have something to show. If we do not get submissions that's fine we can try it next convention. A AMV contest is not the only thing a convention is about. But it does play a crucial role. What I do admit is that Kunicon started to big, a friend once told me that it's better to do something right than doing many things looking like crap. So my focus for Atlanta is the AMV contest, manny is focused on the cosplay. As for the other members I am sure is the rest of the convention so everyone is doing there part. Kunicon learned that from Miami so decided to fix this by making a smaller convention. I prefer to start off small then go big, kunicon failed to do this so that's why there stuck in this situation. Overworked staff, unreliable volunteers, and rushed layouts and bad solutions. This is what I saw and learned at the convention at Miami and I share my opinions and ideas to kunicon so they can improve. Well that's my 2 cents. But I would see to this first thing in the morning I have no intentions of keeping empty promises and I plan on giving a good AMV contest if there enough submissions. So like I said before a AMV contest is nothing without submissions. I would prefer if people hold there submissions until the end of the week till I can give everyone the green light to go ahead I plan on fixing the ftp server so that passive mode works and all you do is connect and upload. I would talk to manny one on one so moderators please do not erase this I want him to read it as well. As for you dokool I would prove to you how much effort I put into my work. I ran teams before and I am sure I can fix this one up. People who give up and tell how hopeless a situation is are people who give up easily and just follow the crowd. I am sure manny wants to run a great convention and I would help him achieve that. Even if it's just one person. Kunicon would become better each year if only they give some supporters a chance.dokool wrote:You're basically making all these empty promises about how this contest will improve while ignoring the most commonly-made complaints (namely about the reputation that Kunicon has garnered and how Kunicon management has no intention on rectifying it). I seriously doubt that and if they do I would make sure everyone gets a share of those sales. Since that's defenitely something I would not support. Using someone elses work to make sales is something that's against the law anyway. Unless they have proper autherization for each submitter and that they signed a document allowing them too.sixstop wrote:something else is nagging me....

And of course, in this case, it's not legal even then.Michieru wrote:I seriously doubt that and if they do I would make sure everyone gets a share of those sales. no, we will never sell DVD's of the AMV contest...that is one illegal, and two wrong on pretty much all moral levels.
Starts to Rant:
Michieru is doing a good job, taking the bull by the horns. Dokool, I have told you before if you really have a problem and have a solution excellent. if you are simply flaming because you have no life, please continue. I am tired of being the nice guy and listening to you rant on about how bad we are. everyone makes mistakes and try to improve. If you are perfect then please by all means run your own convention. We will all go and it will be great. if you are human like the rest of us and make mistakes, then you will simply stop the flaming it is quite old.
End Rant
I read through all the posts, and thinking in retrospect, it would be a good thing to post max FPS's and resolutions - In general programs like Adobe Premiere, it does not process 24 FPS and it has to be changed with AVISynth to 24 FPS using:
Telecide()
Decimate(cycle=5)
AssumeFPS(24)
scripts so I naturally placed the minimum FPS for Mpeg2 as 23.97 since it is what would be used at the end result for 24 FPS on an Mpeg2 or even on HuffYUV projects. and these projects from rips are usually in 720x480.
Thats where those criteria come from. There is a typo on the site which says 24 for HuffYUV, I'll have juan our webmaster change that today.
what would you guys recommend to show as the minimum / maximums for FPS and resolutions?
but the codecs will remain, that was recommended by AWA staff and DrngzKreations awhile ago.

Actually, it handles 24fps and 29.97fps just fine. Perhaps you're referring to 23.976fps?ecamac01 wrote: End Rant

23.97fps isn't an NTSC or film framerate at all, though.scripts so I naturally placed the minimum FPS for Mpeg2 as 23.97
There is only one framerate/framesize standard that you should be adhering to at this point: 720x480, 72/79 (i.e. NTSC 4:3) pixel aspect ratio at 29.97fps, either interlaced or 29.97fps via the MPEG-2 3:2 pulldown flag. Nearly every video device in the United States can handle this.what would you guys recommend to show as the minimum / maximums for FPS and resolutions?
There is no reason to attempt to handle, say, videos submitted in the PAL standard if you do not have prior experience with such video (and, to be frank, the rules don't make me think that anyone over there has had such experience). Just require one standard. It will make both your lives and your entrants' lives easier.
