Does anyone really rip their DVD's to make AMV's?

I have determined Edge22's problem with ripping to be lack of technical skill.

I hacked into his webcam, and this is what I found:

Clearly, PEBKAC.

actually... looking at the member count... i would assume that *most* people do download anime and use that for source.

look at the top 10% and you'll see most of those video used DVD source (wiether or not it's HK *looks at #1*

). Your not limited to only scenes without subs and the quality is overall better. the different between a good editor and not so good editor is pretty much how they edit (includes footage prep), duh. if you wana make a good video, one thing is knowing how to make it look good and using good source footage is a good start.

Personally I stopped downloading anime of any sort almost a year ago because of nasty little viruses and spy ware that would come attached to the video files. It messed up my system like you wouldn't believe and I had to clean off my entire drive. Now I get my anime through stores that sell the DVD's used or through Netflix. Also downloaded footage does not look as nice as a ripped DVD.

In any case, I will admit I did download some clips to make a Final Fantasy X AMV.

Then I came to my fucking senses and started ripping from DVD's instead.

I look at the top 10% list and see a bunch of mediocre videos that have Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist in them and nearly all of them using downloaded footage. Some even having DivX logos in the corner.
