Not going to make a new topic since my problems are ALL beginer problems which have been outlined in guides and people will just post pointing to them more than likely, ie a waste of a new thread.

Ok so here it goes!
I am a TOTALY NEOPHYTE, when it comes to video audio capture, editing and everything else.

I am reading through the guides but I am just confused with the SEVERAL programs (some say different prog to use based on what the author uses)all the guides tell me I need in order just to capture the video (I haven't even gotten to the edit part!). One thing that keeps coming up is getting each program to work with WINXX or this and that other standard program like WMP.

Now, my current problem (besides being almost totally lost) is getting avs to play in WPM for the use of Avisynth. I followed the instructions and downloaded the ASPI layer. But the .avs file I created in TXT won't play.

So far I have Downloaded;
Adobe Premire Pro trial (30 days)
Adaptec ASPI prog
DVDDecrypter
DVD2AVI

I am running;
Win XP
I have;
ATI All in Wonder vid card
DVD/ CD Rom drive
Not sure what else I should mention.

I also have the Windows Movie Maker as well as Pinnacle Hollywood FX and Studio 8(which came with the All in Wonder.)

Please someone help me What the heck am I going to do? :?

I'd recommend downloading VirtualDub and trying out the .avs files in there instead of WMP, but that's just me.

I'm not sure if I can help, but I just thought of something. It's really simple, almost stupid, but it can be easily overlooked (I'm sure everyone's done it at least once). When you make your AVISynth script in Notepad and you go to save it, when you rename the file to .avs, underneath the file name, do you have the files of type set to Text Documents (.txt) or All Files?
