Is Xvid the best compressor for this job?
I've got a video with frame size 720x480, 29.97fps, 6'12", all that comes to about 1.3 GB. I ran it through VirtualDub using Xvid compression, but the filesize is still too high to upload here. (137MB) I tried adding a 2:1 reduction filter, but that made the video quality a whole lot lower than what I'd like. Is there a better compressor or better way to go about this?

720x480 and 360x240 are not appropriate resolutions for online distribution because neither resolution maintains a proper display aspect ratio on computer monitors, and you're encoding more pixels than you really need.gunhoe86 wrote:I've got a video with frame size 720x480, 29.97fps, 6'12", all that comes to about 1.3 GB. Also, the encoder can't do a good job if its input is of mediocre quality.

Well, I've gone over these pages and they were a huge help. I've noticed a few missing filters from the AMVapp package like mfrainbow and mftoon. These would be a huge help, but I can't find them anywhere. I went to the AVISynth webiste and got some 404s, does anyone know where they can be found? Other than that, things are going quite nicely thanks to your help!

mfrainbow and mftoon are not plugins -- they are scripted functions.gunhoe86 wrote:I've noticed a few missing filters from the AMVapp package like mfrainbow and mftoon. As such, they reside in .AVS files that have to be imported (or in .AVSI files that don't have to be imported if you put them in the plugins folder).
You can find them here:
