Is it Possible to Get Windows Movie Maker 2 for Windows ME?

Post by anime_angel_ash » Sun May 22, 2005 12:26 pm

Thanks to the help of some very nice forum members, I am currently working with Windows Movie Maker 1. I just churned out my first project, and it wasn't too horrible. However, the graphics left much to be desired. Since I'm currently unemployed and low on funds, I started looking for free software downloads. I'm not talking bootlegs or anything, just something that will give me better output quality than WMM1. I've seen several people suggesting Windows Movie Maker 2, which seems to have a wider range of video quality than WMM1. However, upon looking for a download of this program, I found that the only ones available were all for Windows XP. Lucky, lucky me, I have Windows ME.

Now that you've read that lengthy explanation, my question is this: Is anyone aware of a website were I can download WMM2 for an ME system?

wmm2 is not available for windows ME. to get the best video quality with wmm1, export the movie from wmm1 with the dv-avi option, postprocess (optional, but recommended), and compress with xvid or h.264

I'm almost in the same boat as you, only I cant download service pack 2 because of crappy AOL. Don't worry, I feel you. If you want, I can give the url for where I got Adobe Premiere. (Downloaded it on bittorrent) I haven't figured out how to use it yet, but the program looks great.

XD

I had Windows ME on my last computer and it sucked horribly. Not only was WMM2 unavailible to me (not that it mattered because I'd already been using Premiere from the beginning), but AMVApp completely messes up playback in ME...Xvid won't work, AVISynth won't work...nothing will unless you do it all separate on your own...bah.

But yeah, it's a pain in the ass, but you can still do stuff with what you have...you'll just have a more lenghthy, difficult, frustrating series of steps to go through. =p

This is funny since I had a laptop with Windows ME, and everything (but WMM) was working alright, and I mean everything O_O

Even AMVAPP? Everything worked right so long as I didn't install it via AMVAPP.

Yes, the amvapp is not tested on windows ME.. mostly because the idea of someone using ME amuses me to the point that I get distracted from debugging it. Get an OS that works is my advice.

(and btw the amvapp is a collection of programs. It could well be something individual such as ffdshow or xvid that is messing it up... probably the former)

Well I didn't have an option at the time but to use Windows ME...but now I have a new shiny PC with Windows XP and everything works just peachy.
